I saw the programme last night.
Flo and Kay are American. They were each 52 years old when the documentary was filmed. They can name the artists of any song from the 1960s to the 1980s; name the release date of any record; remember every record they have ever heard; remember what they ate on any date; calculate the day of the week on which any date falls; and other memory recall abilities.
They were born in New Jersey. As children their abilities were neither recognised nor understood.
They met Dr. Donald Treffert (the autism consultant for the film Rainman), who tested them and confirmed that they are savants.
The narrator said they appear to be outgoing and sociable - they don't fit the autistic stereotype. So how autistic are they? They were interviewed by Dr. Nancy Isenberg, a psychologist or psychiatrist, who said they showed the classic symptoms of autism. They are definitely autistic.
Flo and Kay always watch a TV game show called 100,000 Dollar Pyramid. They enjoy answering the questions, but they mainly watch it because it is hosted by Dick Clark. They hero worship him. He is one of their special interests. They have met him in a zoo or park in Miami, and in his house in California.
Now that their parents and sister have died, who used to look after them, they live with their brother and his wife.
