I have a question to all the other public self-advocates, all the bloggers, youtubers and myspacers, etc.

I have a real dilemma, here:
I want to display a realistic view on autism and what it's really like to be autistic, to combat that ghastly light, in which the curebies portray us in.

I also want to connect with other people on the spectrum.

For this, I obviously have to go public, but that attracts a lot of freaks, and also people will be able to google me and too much private information will be availabe on the net.

How do you deal with that?

:?

If you want to ever work for an employer its advisable not to go public about having autism and its best not to have Utube or Myspace websites out there at all. Employers these days search the internet to learn about prospective job interviewees so its best to keep a low profile.

Do not rush into things,

I would advise you to use a false name and never show you face or anything which might identify you.

If you want to do this I would suggest that you should contact one of the existing autistic bloggers, such as the "autistic b***h from hell" she might be able to give you some advice about how you should do it.

Diagnosed under the DSM5 rules with autism spectrum disorder, under DSM4 psychologist said would have been AS (299.80) but I suspect that I am somewhere between 299.80 and 299.00 (Autism) under DSM4.

I think a conventional web site for what you want to do is better than a blog site. also you can remain more invisible if you want to.

I have a blog, a myspace and a youtube channel.

Nowhere is my real name mentioned, ever, or my age.

My youtube channel only features favorite vids, not my own.
Photos on myspace are set to "friends only" and the profile is set to private.

I have a few pics on my blog, but they are all blurry, small, or distorted, or only feature parts of me, like my hands, so only people who know me well, can recognize me.

It doesn't even matter, because I work freelance and everyone knows I'm autistic, they're all cool with it.

My worry is that random strangers can google my alias name, find all the comments I made on other blogs, getting insulted and ridiculed by people, that kind of stuff.
Some troll might also post private s**t about me, has happened to others, not me (yet).

I admire Michelle Dawson, she gets a lot of ridicule, and she always fights back, I think I wouldn't have the nerve, or confidence.

Thanks for your replies!
:)

Edit:
I know abfh's blog, but I'm way too shy to approach people I don't know.

Bev, of Asperger Square 8 does a lot of presentations for autistics about blogging and self-advocacy, but not anywhere near my home, so I wonder if such resources are available online.
