Anyway, it reminds me of Sarafina being rated PG-13 due to "apartheid-driven violence". Violence is violence, stupid racist MPAA.

Anyway, my deduction(which might be perceived as being out on a limb) is that the people are afraid of any social threats.

how could expect anything less stupid,off an organisation that will welcome games such as the manhunt series then later refuse their certificates because they know nothing about games and let political correctness tell them what to do.
am cannot believe someone would knowingly watch a film called 'special people' and not realise its going to be about disabled people-so disablist pillocks have already got their warning.

Sounds like some people who fetishize the disabled are on that board. By that I mean, they think of the handicapped in a purely sexual way, so everyone else must so.

Consider this: The BBFC are (in theory) there to protect us. They will classify and censor films so that the correct audiences see them, and so that we are not exposed to depravity and evil, and corrupting influence. It is oft claimed that certain items have, or are capable of depraving and corrupting, even driving people to crime. Consider that the Jamie Bulger killers were reputed to have been inspired by Childsplay.

Those ON the BBFC watch everything UNCUT.. before it is censored. Why is it that NO member of the BBFC has ever raped, murdered, or killed anyone, if this material is so pervasively evil?

Finally, a 12a rating is essentially an age limit. What is it about disabled people that means those under 12 cannot witness them in film? After all, does not Balamory contain an actress in a wheelchair? A childrens program with a mong in a spacker-chariot? BAN IT QUICK BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KICKMURDERED....

Has anyone actually checked to see if they haven't? It'd be satisfying in all the wrong ways to learn that they had.

No no. Blind people are scarier. If you've seen the movie Blindness with all those newly sightless people locked up together, you'd know what I mean. Some just went psycho.

So are disabled people that offensive?

Disabled people are often viewed not as people at all, but as only simbles of what non-disabled people are most afraid of. They're all just one accident away from becoming disabled themselves.

I find that very strange and sad.

The thing is that was a movie. Blind people deal with prejudice too, and they were outraged at their portrayal in that film. I think you should take a minute to realize when say "blind people are scary" it's the same prejudice people have towards us being Aspies.
