Lately we have heard bad news first it was autism speaks is or has become a non-governmental organization then it was news that they are getting closer to being able to find autistic fetuses so that they can abort them. Well I might have found something so that we can all feel that warm comforting drug called hope once again in the form of an organization known as the The Autistic Self Advocacy Network AKA ASAN. As the name suggest it is an organization in which autistic people have a large say about how things are ran which is in contrast to Autism Speaks which has no employees or board members who are autistic.

The Autistic Self Advocay Network

it's good to see that the autistic spectrum is being defended by those who understand it rather than those who don't understand it causing us problems.

When I found out my diagnosis, I used to think I was the only one who thought I was no less of anyone else. Few years after did I realize I wasn't alone and heard of the ASAN.
If this organization (Autism Speaks) thinks it will take control of my future children's fate, they'll have to get through me. I'd rather my children be treated like human beings than subjects.

Last I checked Autism Speaks didn't have the power to ovveride all laws and batter down your doors to drag your child off for extensive drugging, no matter what they developed.

To be honest, I want a cure. And screenings don't really bother me.

Autism Speaks does not have the power to override laws your right their however they do have the power, the influence and name recognition to lie and manipulate people into believing hatred towards autism is justified and that abortions of autistic fetuses is justified as well. You can hear similar things from the Nazis, and other groups filled with bigotry and discriminating thoughts.

Now if you want to get cure that's fine but me but doubt it will happen because your brain has already wired itself in an autistic manner, it would take an act of god to rewire your brain in such a way that you became "normal" without dying. When I say dying I don't mean dying as your body dies I mean the person you are will cease to exist, you can't separate autism, your personality and your identity they are fused together.

When in doubt, ask an autistic. Chances are, they're obsessed with what you need to know.

Autism Speaks will NEVER speak for me
