I have just recently watched the australian program "today tonight" and one of the people who they interviewed said the Autism is a "terrable desease". Im thinking about complaining to them.

Today Tonight is a trashy commercial tv half hour program isn't it? sensationalises tabloid tv.
i believe itl masquerades as current affairs and purports to be newsworthy.

the shame is that middle australia actually watches it, rather than watching better quality current affairs on the ABC and SBS.

and that translates to misinformation about most topics tackled on the program.

watch crap ya get crap.

"a current affair" was on in the background as i was on my computer this evening. the story i heard from the side of my head was that there are many serious diseases that are on the rise due to people refusing to vaccinate their babies.
the main reason parents refuse to vaccinate is that they believe diseases like polio and measles etc have already been eradicated, and also because they fear their babies may "become" autistic.

the reporter was interviewing a mother who refused to vaccinate her daughter because she may "get" autism.
in defense of vaccination, the reporter raised an example about a baby who died of whooping cough, and another baby who died of measles, and they caught the disease from other unvaccinated babies.

the mother's response was "well they were only 2 babies that died. compare that against the possibility of many more babies becoming autistic because of vaccinations!!"

that was all i heard because the phone rang and i answered it.
but i know i did not like the mother in the interview as she seemed to equate autism on a par with gross deformity. she was certainly very ignorantly impassioned.

And then everyone wonders why there's a measles outbreak in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland.

The "ignorantly impassioned" are the most dangerous people of all.

You say that's what one person said--what did the others say?

More bigotry from the neurotypical as usual will earn those aliens a very bad reputation by spreading Nazi propaganda. I am lucky I've never seen this programme as I do not live in Australia. Anyone that complains about this s**t is doing us a service. 8O

as far as i know no it isn't.

i did see a story on Today Tonight about some people not getting their kids vacinated for measles because they think the kids will end up with autism. Which is sad.

TT and ACA are trashy current events shows. I don't like them.
Anyone here watch the Chaser? there is a running gag on the show every week called What did we learn from ACA this week? where they take the top 5 themes on the current affairs shows that week and just mock the way they dealt with it.

Here is another reason why people should not take shows like today tonight seriously
I saw a clip where this was said

"75% of high school students are drug dealers" this was actually said, the chaser boys mocked TT heavily for this.
