most of my family is aspie, and we can skate. I think my mom is the worst skater. I'm fairly decent, as long as it's fairly basic. My skates are too small and broke, so I have to get new skates. I also have wobbly ankles, so I'm getting myself ankle supports.

I love ice skating, and am taking lessons. At the moment I can do waltz jumps, and I'm working towards learning a salchow and a one footed spin. However, my coach is forever telling me that I am too hunched and need to relax.

Where is this meetup thread of which you speak?

As I hail from Canada, I can naturally ice skate. Rollerblading is not so good for me, but I can manage...

i used to be a lot better but since i hadn't skated in over 6 years, it took me a while to get back into it last year. i'm hoping i'll get better this year since i now live within a 3min walk of the world's longest skating rink.

No you don't!

I do, in Winnipeg!

hahaha i was wondering if someone was going to bring that up. you guys may have the longest naturally frozen ice surface but ours has the guinness world record for the largest skating rink.

besides, the first hit when you google "longest skating rink" is the rideau canal's website, which makes it official since google rules the world :P

I ice skate a lot. I don't want to sound as if I'm boasting but I can do 16ft long skid stops, I'm very proud of that.

I'd forgotten there was a skating thread. I'll try not to go on about figure skating for hours, I promise!
I'm still taking lessons. The US nationals was on recently, and that was interesting.

Figure skating takes a lot of talent to get anywhere near good at, I'm not a figure skater myself, but I have every respect for it.

I can ice skate - I can do most things when I first try, it just takes a little more effort for me to be good at whatever I try.

I used to live right next to an indoor ice rink, not that common a thing, but never went as it was always full of charvers.

I love to ice skate. I just learned how to last year at the age of 31. I was scared for a while and decided to try it. At first I had to hang on to the wall, but after 45 minutes, I was able to balance. Then I stayed for at least 3 hours because I loved it. Then I was going everyday. Now, it is like a ritual. I love to go around in a circles, so ice skating around the rink is great. It is also a great stress reliever.
