Funny! And a little sad how college football has become so corporate.

There used to be some even worse names. The Independence Bowl was sponsored by Poulan and was called something like the 'Poulan Weedwhacker Independence Bowl', aka 'The Weedwhacker Bowl'. The Texas Bowl was sponsored by Gallery Furniture and was informally referred to as "The Sofa Bowl" or "The Mattress Bowl".

Dow Scrubbing Bubbles should sponsor a game and call it the Toilet Bowl (or as some people pronounce it, "Turlet" Bowl).

I've just recently heard of The Poinsetta Bowl on Christmas Eve.

I played intermural football as a kicker in college during off season from my varsity wrestling. Our big championship playoff game was called the "HyperBowl".

That's a good name.

Tim,

You have to realize that BCS and the sponsers of the bowl games have control in titling the bowls. Also they do not sound funny to me because it makes sense since you have the Sugar Bowl, Rose Bowl and Cotton Bowl are legit names. I am disagreeing with you because the schools who play in those bowl games hold pride in playing in them like Virginia Tech and Navy.

I think the article was a reference to the corporate sponsorship of the events.
