Are you a vegetarian?

Post how long, and if you are vegan/vegetarian/lacto-ovo, etc...

(I am vegetarian, who won't eat cheese, for 6 years or 1/3 of my life)...

I call myself an economic vegetarian.
I don't buy meat.
I dislike spending money that goes to factory farms.

I sometimes do eat meat. For example, if I'm invited to a
potluck or barbeque, I'll bring vegetable skewers or chips
and salsa, and eat from some of the meat dishes.

I would consider buying free-range chicken or grass-fed beef,
but those brands are hard to come by, and I don't feel
the need to eat meat anyway.

Edit:
I forgot to say how long:
About a year and a half ago.
It didn't happen all at once.
I just ate less and less.

I've been a vegetarian since I was 14. so about eight years then. I became vegetarian after seeing a video which disturbed me at school. I've never eaten meat again and never plan to. I've been quite lucky really because some people who become vegetarians can't carry on due to ill health. I've been really healthy since I've been on my diet. I am also lactose free but that isn't through choice, I'm actually lactose intolerant. If I had the choice I would be drinking milk and eating cheese and ice cream as much as I want! Is probably a good thing I can't then because otherwise I would be very fat!

if i were a better person, i would be vegan like my older sister. but i just can't give up the flavor of animal products like meat and dairy products. vegan cuisine to me is totally flavorless, especially when served raw as is a common vegan custom.

^^ Yaye greetings chrissyrun. I believe that I became a happy vegetarian approximately fours year ago. However I initially also ate poor fishes. ^^ I stopped eating poor fishies approximately three year ago I believe. However I also currently eat eggs and dairy products.

I've been a vegetarian for about 16 years. I did this mostly for health reasons and it helped a lot. Recently I have been on an Indian food kick and my method of cooking ends up being vegan. I won't say no to a cheese sandwich or milk in my tea when I'm with friends, but if I'm cooking for myself, I find I'm quite happy with vegan cooking.

I suppose there are vegans who don't know how to make flavorful food. Indian cuisine is ideal for anyone who wants a vegetarian diet and flavor.

I was pescatarian for nine years, then three years I stopped eating fish. This year I was getting a lot of headaches, which I attributed to cheese, also my aunt had this problem as well. When traveling I eat yogurt to keep up my protein intake, but right now I am vegan.I feel fantastic on a vegan diet, but really need to keep up protein and be wary of osteoporosis, which my grandmother had.
For me,it's more of a consumption/awareness issue. If you traced how your meal got to your plate,I doubt any human would willingly eat meat!
There is a great organic store that so many delicious vegan stuff I love, such as blueberry cheesecake, gluten free cookies, but trying not to eat so much processed food now.
Any recipes you guys like?

I'm a Vegetarian, I eat everything but meat (No fish, chicken, etc.), but I will eat animal products (I Don't use leather either, because animals were killed for it).

I've been one since I was 5, and I'm the only person in my family (I'm 17 now).

I've been a vegetarian for about 6 weeks! I have been mostly pescatarian this year though but I recently took the step. I may become vegan in the future too, but I am still trying to find my feet.

I became a vegetarian because of some beloved animals I know. Which I am going to go and visit now, actually... if I can find them. They graze far and wide. Sometimes I find them lying down next to the hay shed with their heads poking between the bars, chomping away on the winter feed.

I was a devout vegetarian for almost 2 years, but recently fell off the wagon due to health reasons. I still maintain a mostly vegetarian diet, but allow myself a little meat now and then. I still won't prepare meat, for the most part, and love vegan cooking. I make amazing salads and I do feel so much better with a more "pure" diet.

I've been a vegan for 11 years now. I don't eat any meat or dairy, or wear any animals products. I do occasionally eat honey though.

I've been a vegetarian for about 6 or 7 years. I have always had a very close relationship to animals, and to me they all deserve love and respect (except for spiders, hanging above my bed or mosquitoes). I am - however - a lacto-ovo vegetarian, so I do consume dairy products and eggs. Money has never been an issue of mine - never had them - but I still manage to buy ecological (økologisk - I don't know if it's a word the English-speaking world would use, but it's what it's called in Denmark. There are specific rules and regulations when it comes to living condition, fodder/feed, the use of medicine, how the animals need to be stimulated according to their needs, how much space they must have and how much they must be outside, etc.). If I am to consume products from animals, I need to know they've been treated properly. :3 My boyfriend even buys ecological eggs now, because it upsets me, when eating eggs from caged hens. :(
