Does anyone else here find boxing as calming as I do? Or any form of standup fighting? I love just putting on some MMA gloves and sparring with my brother. MMA is one of my obsessions and I'm slowly getting better at the technique. I'm MUCH better on the ground. Everyone's opinion on me is that if I were stronger, I would beat any of them easily. Because I have the edge in technique and skill over all of them. I absolutely love a good jiu jitsu grappling match.

Boxing in my own opinion is the only sport that really calms down. it makes you a better person every time you put the gloves on.

Boxing and Jiu Jitsu are all greatly calming

both are very stress relieving, very calming... It levels you out as a person. Especially in the beginning, where you are usually getting your bottom kicked, quite a bit.. It is enjoyable because you improve, there is reward with hard work, and it is humbling because you are working very hard, man to man, or woman, and dominating or being dominated. After a good session in the ring or on the mat, you leave with calmer spirits.. Because you've expended a lot of pent up emotions or as I would like to call them, our primal urges.

I used to do a bit of Karate and Wing-Tsun and now I'm really into boxing, it is calming and I felt really kinda, fantastic when my sparring buddy said ''You've got quite a punch...''
I used to get alot of flak in school cause I'm a little wierd (Aspergers and all..) so I guess this is a good outlet for all that pent up anger :)

Has anyone or does anyone go to any Martial arts or MMA lessons or clubs??

I agree that it's calming. I like to think I'm a better person every time I put the gloves on. I like that outlook!

I love a good mat session. Rolling (BJJ) is great. Calms, relaxes, and makes you feel good. Important to find good sparring partners though.

Heck ya, nothing as exhausting as rolling on the mat for a couple hours. And sparring is just plain fun as hell. It's actually OK to hit someone :o . MMA is one of my obsessions too, most of my family are fans now thanks to me. I've trained in it for awhile and competed a few times. It would be much less stressful if there wasn't a ton of people watching you fight. But if the people weren't there, there wouldn't be a fight. A necessary evil  .

I'm learning Krav Maga. I find the controlled release of aggression very positive. I've far enough up that I'll be starting sparring. On the other end of the fitness spectrum, I do some yoga. It's a really different sensation. The Krav Maga is all about unbridled intensity. The yoga is all about controlled intensity. Both require focus. One is outward, the other inward.

Lol I don't like getting hit, so I prefer wrestling and the derivatives of grappling/submissions. Usually ending in a choke because I'm a nice guy.

I've recreationally taken on 170lbs guys at 130lbs 5'8. I have brothers so I've always wrestled lol.
