Hi,

I think this counts as a health thingie, even though it probably is all in my head...

Anyway, I wanted to see if any of you have ever encountered problems with walking in public, like you physically cannot move your feet when around other people?

Whenever I am talking on a crowded street or just in any public space I feel my ankles and knees sorta lock, so I end up just standing there for ten minutes waiting for them to function again. It is quite a pain in the behind since it means I will be late for whatever meeting I was on my way to.

My contact person says it can be my social anxiety manifesting, but I don't know...

Anywho, have you tried something similar? or maybe you have a great advise?

Cheers,
Soleil

I get something similar. When I walk through a lot of people on my own, I feel my whole body goes really stiff, making me clench my hands and toes up tight. I'm not sure if it's because I'm terrified of tripping and falling flat on my face, or if it's the anxiety of lots of people looking at me at once. This is why I never dare to wear high heels!

I never get these feelings when I'm walking with someone else whom I feel comfortable with. I find I relax much more, because I suppose talking to the person with me takes my mind off of other people.

I totally know how you feel - sometimes I'm afraid to even walk out on my own and I just stay indoors to keep out of the way. I don't have any advice because I struggle with walking out in public myself, but I can still share some understanding with you. Often I try to avoid supermarkets too, because there are so many people all close to you, which makes me anxious too.
