Yesterday about 6 pm, I was driving generally westward here in Houston, and I got super drowsy. It really was pretty dangerous.

I was sleep deprived anyway. The glare got my eyes start to close. And then my body kind of went with it?

Has anyone else experienced something like this?

I face this problem on my drive home in the summertimes. I have to drive west towards Ann Arbor and the sun at that time of day is killer after a tiring day. I wish I had a personal driver...

I wish I had a personal driver, too. :D

And, Thank you. It's good to know I'm not the only one.

Driving into glare makes me so drowsy that I start to nod off and have to pull over. Sun glasses don't seem to help much, but a cold drink with caffeine, like coke, helps a bit.

glare is a tricky one indeed; if i drive against it, i go almost completely blind untill a minute after it's gone.
i managed to solve this problem by wearing polarised sunglasses; these dont especially lower the level of light, but they kill off almost all glare, allowing me to look into it without being blinded or feeling fatigued; perhaps you should try that

I was surprised at how drowsy I got.

I wear glasses and do have a pair of clip-on sunglasses (don't know if they're polarized or not). Willing to give it a try, sometimes simple things work surprisingly well.
