My friend asked me the other day "besides stress what can make your hair go grey at a young age."

just wondering what natural ways can you make your hair go grey at a premature age?

Genetics. My mother and all the women on her side of the family were pulling out greys from their early teens and had lost nearly all of their hair colour by their late 20s. My sister has followed the trend. But my dad didn't start greying until his early 50s and now he's 65 and still has a lot of colour in his hair. And I seem to be following him. 31 and not a single one so far.

That's a shame as I dye my hair and white would make a good base colour to start from! Plus my gran's hair was a luminous white and it was so beautiful, I'd love to have that hair. (Think of white silk wedding dresses - that colour.) Typical that I spend so much time and money bleaching the colour out of my hair and mum and sister have to dye the colour back in!

Hair gets gray due to oxidation, however at what age the process begins is, by and large, genetically determined.

Genetics play a huge role. I know alot of folks, especially women, who started to go grey at mid to late twenties, while my own grandfather still had traces of his original hair color when he died at 86. His sideburns and the hair on his temple went grey pretty early, though.
