The last few years i really got into biking. First it was just a means to get from A to B since I don't drive. Then i starting to do it to relieve stress when i was having a hard few months in 2010 and was doing avg of 60mi a day. Then i needed a better bike, so I bought one and it took off from there. Its now my favorite thing to do, most of the time its all I want to do. I put alot of money into. i guess it makes sense since i have AS that I'd be focused on one particular thing. The people at the bike shop are actually some of the extreme few i will engage in small talk with. It'd be nice to have someone else to talk to about it.

Wondering if anyone else rides, even a little. I'd like to ask and answer questions about biking. Only a few of my friends ride and i don't have many people to talk to about it.

I was on an XC mountain bike team as a kid, now I'm into dirt jumping (26" bmx pretty much) and trials. I'm hoping to find foam pit access. Meanwhile I practice pump tracks and on my slackline for core strength.

I do. My daily transport form is bicykling. When the weather is ok, I enjoy riding my racer.
I don´t do competition and I always ride alone. Sometimes do it for the energy, and sometimes just to get out of the city and enjoy some landscapes.
Right now I am busy in the garden, but when summer starts, I´ll be bringing my watercolors or my camera.
I would like mountain bike, but that will have to be a future project.

Hi. I'm an avid cyclist. I belong to several cycling clubs, and in season I ride an average of 200 miles a week. I usually do about 5 hundred mile rides (called "centuries" in the US) a year. There's also something called a "metric century" which is 100 km, and I do about one of them a week.

Right now, I've been sidelined by a nagging shoulder injury I received in a crash last fall (my bike was also wrecked---hit by a careless driver who proceeded through a stop sign), and I recently had to undergo surgery to fix it. Hopefully, I'll be riding again in about 4-6 weeks depending on how quickly the rehab goes.

I like to ride my road bike. Most I can do in one day is about 28 miles (without becoming too knackered), but I only tend to go out on the bike about once or twice per week on average. I'd like to go out more, but I tend to not like going outside.

I bought a road bike specifically cos I like triathlon. I using a Specialised (mid-range).

find it difficult to maintain a constant cadence for my average speed which is 30 km/h when it should be 36.

I've been biking a lot more lately, actually. I went on an 8-mile bike ride with my German friend on Monday and Tuesday, and I didn't really know how much higher my stamina had gotten over the last couple of years until then.

I wouldn't dream of competing though. I'd just do it for fun. Maybe I should look into mountain biking, I live in the perfect region for it. :chin:

i've never had a car and get everywhere by bicycle except in winter. i also go for long late night rides for exercise and for the sake of my sanity. i find it to be the most effective stress-reliever--it's like when i'm out at night on my bike with my favourite songs playing in my earphones i can untie all the knots in my mind that have formed through the day.

I commute to work on my bike. My office is about a 15km ride away. I enjoy cycling very much and it helps me to relieve stress and get a clear mind, especially after a long day of just sitting and working at a desk.

Triathlon nut.
GB Age group team, Sprint distance.
Ride 20 miles each way to work throughout the year.
Using a Planet X Cross bike on road tyres which gives decent brakes even in winter and only a slight weight penalty (and I'm commuting so who cares about 500g or whatever).
Currently injured after falling off my Mtb and busting a few ribs but managed 10m yesterday,
though the bumps were a bit sore,,,,,

I'd suggest join a cycle club if you haven't already, you'll be surprised at just how many people will be prepared to discuss gear ratios etc for hours on end without pausing for breath. As a newly (self) diagnosed Aspie I think the real numbers of ASD in the popultiona are far, far higher than the 1:100 commonly quoted.
More than happy to discuss gear ratios or whatever myself!!
