Rangers fan here. Congratulations to the Kings for one of the truly great if not the greatest Stanley Cup playoffs years ever. Rangers were last victims. Kings this year reminded me of the Dynasty Islanders which unfortunately I knew all to well. Islanders like the Kings would always let you think you were competing or even as good as them but they always found a way to be just a teeny bit better then whomever they were playing. Kings were down 0-3 in the opening round and won. Beat thewrll's Duck's in 7, down 2 goals in to the defending champs in the conference Game 7 and won in OT , and were behind in all 3 games they would win in overtime against my team in the Finals.
As far my NY Rangers excruciating end to an unexpectedly really good season. Started the season on the road the first month because Madison Square Garden was being renovated, stunk as they adjusted to new coach then got it together enough to make the playoff's, The first 3 series in the playoffs go 7 games and this wacky and entertaining finals. Rangers had many chances to win Game 5 but did not do it. Rangers need to add players that can finish off scoring chances better and players that screen the goalie better.
One if the better memories from this year was the night of Game 4. I went to a GRASP support group meeting that was located a few blocks from Madison Square Garden. It was strange talking about serious Autism topics while with the pre game commotion was happening outside. The meeting ended just as the game was beginning. A lot of the streets were blocked off will tons of media trucks. I walked around the arena and you could hear the national anthem and crowd noise from the area and the big TV screens that were set up by the local drinking establishments. Then I left on the train. I did not want to be around when the game ended and the crowd came out. I did DVR the game and figured I would get home before somebody with a smart phone yelled out the final result. Another train got into an accident and we were delayed an hour and a half. I thought my recording the game would be in vain because somebody would say the final result. Somebody mentioned a partial score but not the final one. I ended up watching my recording of the the game in the middle of the night.
