I'm hypoglycemic and I've had Lymes disease since at least the late 80s. I used to consume a lot of sugar. My mood swings would be extreme. Sugar weakens the immune system and is now said to be a cause of cancer as reported by 60 Minutes. It's not completely out of my diet though. Most of my carbs come from long grain rice and some rice based gluten free chips. I try to eat an orange every day as I think they are alkaline. Candy is acidic. Live healthier and more emotionally stable with little or no sugar in your life.

I'm pretty much the same. I've cut way back on how much sugar I eat. I pretty much avoid grains too. Of late I've been intermitting fasting some. I'll eat breakfast and lunch, and skip dinner. For me it's been easy to do as I haven't been hungry in the evening. I guess not only avoiding sugar might be helpful in avoiding cancer, but fasting some could help also.

I've been consciously trying to reduce my sugar intake. I have my coffee and tea without sugar. I stopped drinking fizzy drinks. I limit the amount of sweets (cakes, cookies etc) although I love them. I don't have a weight problem or any other health problems related to sugar intake. I just want to start a healthy lifestyle before I lose my health.

I didn't know about sugar being a cause of cancer. I think most food products you find in supermarkets contain some added or natural sugar. It's almost impossible to avoid sugar completely.

I sometimes use stevia and xylitol instead of sugar. They have very low GI values and are good for diabetics. However, I'm not sure if they are totally healthy. Some say that xylitol is so processed that it cannot really be called a "natural" sweetener (as opposed to artificial sweetener).

It would be best to avoid it most of the time, but indulge every once in awhile. That's pretty much my philosophy on food that's bad for me. I'll eat anything; just not very often.

I'm another one who's healthier for not eating very very little sugar in my diet.

Everything is carcinogenic nowadays. My metabolism doesn't allow me to cut down on sugar. My blood sugar is very low and I constantly have to have carbs otherwise I could faint and be hospitalized. I have gotten used to eating a lot and a lot of sweets. I would rather enjoy any food that have to constantly worry about a pair of buffalo wings making me fat.
