Hi, im posting details of my research over the last 5 years
ok this might be long so bear with me.
About 5 years ago i was 120kg after coming off antipsychotic medication, much of the weight i attribute to being on a drug for my entire 20's. As i was in my early 30's i was concerned that if i didn't do something i might be dead within 10 years from the considerable weight.
This in turn started my interest in researching ways to improve ones health and gain optimal body health. One of the first significant things i learnt about was coconut oil which contains Lauric Acid. There are very few sources in nature with lauric acid one being mothers milk. Its a very healthy nutrient, people have been known to eat coconut oil by the spoon full. I also begun looking into this due to wanting a better oil with olive oil not being suitable for all cooking or baking due to the taste. Coconut oil likewise isn't suitable for everything but it does make the most amazing curry's. If anyone wishes to try it make sure you get virgin cold pressed not mixed with any junk.
Gradually i begun to experiment and learn more, then i discovered turmeric containing the all powerful curcumin component. I begun trying hotmilk with turmeric and a little honey for sweetness, turmeric is an interesting spice in how it works its not water soluble but is soluble in fat there for milk works well. This means the active component of turmeric - curcumin is able to pass whats known as the blood brain barrier and actually improve overall brain health. Its a very potent and powerful natural spice if used correctly and can result in drastic health improvements.
Long after the weight had melted off, i realized another on going problem ive had for many years is coming and going fever. I thought of all sorts of problems it could be causing it in the end it turned out to be an infected tooth namely my wisdom tooth which grew sideways but yeah i refuse to goto the dentist and have it pulled ive read about what can happen with empty sockets also i dont see why its needed. So i took responsibility for my health and begun some more research. Turmeric as it happens has great anti inflammatory properties as well as anti bacterial, coconut oil is similar in this way being antibacterial and antiviral. I read that if you mixed both together it creates an outstanding mouthwash where a person can then use the method known as oil pulling. After further reading i learnt that the biggest problem of teeth, why infection actually take place is due to the bacteria located in the mouth cavity. Our doctors have told us for years to brush and floss daily but what have they told us about bacteria in the mouth? Very little. Its not actually the food that causes problems its the bacteria, so the solution i found was the destroy the bacteria. using the method i just described it works very well finding my teeth have never felt so clean or mouth for that fact. Science is starting to believe more and more that many illnesses begin from the mouth. I also brush using an electric tooth brush which ive found to be far better than manual sometimes i use baking soda to provide a superior clean or just salt. Pepper mint oil can give a great fresh breath but careful with its use swallowing peppermint oil is no joke. Use to swish only, i might be speaking from experience :p And yes real peppermint essence contains alcohol, if you really wanna go down that road drink vanilla essence with milk haha good times.
A few other things ive learnt
Roasted almonds are very good for calcium and potassium additionally due to roasting they digest better
Brazil nuts provide great amount's of selenium , a big problem in NZ is selenium deficiency because our soil lacks it. Limit them to 2 daily though selenium can build up if too much are eaten.
Lard is also a wonderful oil to cook with or bake with, made the most amazing loafs of bread using lard
You can create a nice homemade electrolyte drink using only salt and water which will hydrate much better than water
Dont be afraid of saturated fats, instead be afraid of artificial modified fats. Margarine is junk.
You can soak nuts to improve their nutrient content
Black pepper will increase the amount of nutrients your body absorbs
Tea inhibits iron absorption if drunk with food, ideally have it 30 mins before or after eating
Activated charcoal capsules should be in your medicine cabinet they will absorb almost any poison known to man
Drinking a little apple cider vinegar daily will provide a host of health benefits
Chili is also very good for health, i just use powdered chili
Coffee isn't so great on its own but you can add a little cinnamon to improve its healthfulness.
Cocoa is awesome for magnesium, if you suspect your magnesium deficient start drinking hot cocoa
Not all sugars are the same, white sugar for example is made white using bone
Whilst soft brown sugar is one of the most unhealthy honey and anything unrefined rank highly as good
If you start baking bread you will never have issues with supermarket bread again
Its possible to live without a fridge to save big on power, a freezer helps immensely espec in winter
You can make a freezer more power efficient by filling it with bottles of water and then freezing them
A 1.5 kg bag of flour should be able make around 5 average sized loafs of bread, no milk required-dont forget the yeast
A mortar and pestle is your best friend for non powered grinding of things - free processing
Eating raw garlic also works effectively like turmeric
If you are a single man living on your own, invest in a mini oven you'll save on power and never look back
Peanut butter can be made very easily at home, grind those nuts 'no pun intended haha'
Assburgers as featured on southpark is my funny way of saying aspergers which i regularly use on steam. I realize this doesn't help you but its funny
That's about it, fairly complete list of things ive learnt. Hopefully it helps someone.
