I think a big part of it is portion control. People think that you need large amounts of food at every sitting, including junk food and healthy food, when you don't.
People are also understandably very confused about what healthy food is.
true. there are lots of foods out there marketed as "healthy" and "organic" which may certainly not be the former, and show a very skewed interpretation of the latter word. all "organic" means is
derived from living matter or containing one of the four elements central to life (oxygen, nitrogen, carbon, hydrogen). it doesn't mean it's healthier. cancer is organic. cyanide is also organic.
"organic" is probably one of the most abused and misused words/phrases in the industry, right up there with "free range" and "diet".
as for portion control...i've found that being served your food by someone else (who knows better) helps to control it, as opposed to being at a buffet style setting, where you're much more likely to pig out.
swapping out your plates for smaller ones might help too, but i'm not sure.
