Guessing some people might call them hazel or hazel.brown

I would say brown as well. Close enough to brown at least.

Simple test. In brighter lighting or sunlight, do they look green or amber? If yes, Hazel. If no, Brown. I do see an element of green in them in that photo, so my vote is Hazel.

Brown eyes will appear brown regardless of lighting.
