I do. :)

There is something very rewarding about working out for awhile, and there are so many ways to do it - it can be done alone, with groups, for fun, for health, for competition - you name it; doesn't have to be a popular form of exercise as long as one finds some benefit from it.

I like it so much that I made a video recently about a couple of principles of exercise that I sometimes see folks at the gym being unaware of: http://youtu.be/C5zVMJBl8Jo

It's not easy to begin a regimen from scratch, but once you get into the groove, it's hard to resist that endorphins rush.

Sort of. I saw you respond in my walking thread on the random board. I go for a walk every single day. I guess you could say that's a special interest, but I mainly do it so I don't go stir crazy :)

Basketball is one of my special interests. Probably the most healthy interest I have.

Walking certainly counts. :)

Tigress, basketball is my favorite sport. Do you both play and watch?

I guess I'd qualify a bit. I really enjoy ice skating, particularly figure skating, though I've tried speed skating too. I collect a LOT of information about stuff, just because it's simple for me due to my NVLD/AS. I currently try to get on the ice most days of the week, though lately it's been a struggle.

Another interest I have is Olympic style weightlifting and powerlifting. I started doing it as assistance work for figure skating, and it certainly helped there. I got the genetics to squat and deadlift comparatively well, meso-endo somatype.

One of my problems is I need supplements and equipment to keep me doing well in these sports. I have new skating boots, but still don't have blades for them. And for weightlifting, I think a pair of weightlifting shoes would be a great help for me, but no money for those either. And the supplements, I don't get nearly the vitamins, protein, etc, or even just general food I need, so that affects things.

To a point, I feel like ASDs can do well in sports if we approach it from the right angle, what I've lacked in natural ability I've so far been able to make up in research.

Figure skating is perhaps the most artistic sport. I can't do it myself, but it's great to watch.

Weightlifting is something I do frequently as a fellow meso. Diet is a big factor for sure - I've amped up protein consumption since I started. Sorry you don't have more money to do as much with it as you'd like.

Always been interested in football(soccer), but unfortunately I'm not that active anymore, mainly because of injuries which has forced me to quit at an early age.

So now I've kind of moved over to weightlifting, although nothing professional, just a hobby to stay fit and it helps on my confidence.

It's basically all I do.

Not researching, just doing it.

I'm in conditioning to play football for my high school, and I work out on my own time basically all day when I don't have homework, since I have no social life or occupation(though I'm searching) or anything like that.

And that endorphin rush is purty cool.

I watch the NBA and I play every morning at the YMCA. Either shooting or playing a game of 21 or some one on one. It's something I could do for the rest of my life and never get tired of, partly because there are endless things you can practice and get better at.

It is a special interest and obsession for me.

I like to work out, some times hard, see improvements in performance, general day to day activity, and the rush I get during and after a workout. Feeling like a beast when you're hitting the bag, or pads, dead lifting many hundreds of pounds, or running like your life depends on it... It's also humbling in my case, as I like to push myself and spend up my energy during a work out. Afterwords, I sometimes don't have much left.

That's the spirit! Always working at other stuff in the sport, whether b-ball or something else.

I watched more MMA tonight, and as someone who has watched that since the age of 11 (1995), there is always something new to learn.

My special interest is martial arts and combat sports. I devote almost all of the little spare time I have towards either going to some kind of training, or excercising (weightlifting, running, jumpropes, stretching, cycling, stuff like that). I don't think I could go on for long if I somehow had to quit, keeps my focused and gives me so much energy.

Tennis is my obsession/special interest.

I am nearly 50 but currently play tennis most days of the week.

I also work out in the gym 5 days a week to help my tennis.

My name TwoHandsTony refers to me learning to play with both my left hand and my right hand. I have special tennis rackets with two handles (I am not joking !).

I think of tennis as a stabalising influence in my life. When things are going bad elsewhere then my tennis keeps me focused and routined. Problems seem to get on top of me if for some reason I can't play tennis, maybe an injury or bad weather.

I belong to two tennis clubs, one indoors and one outdoors. I play for my club in two leagues plus I play competitions whenever I can.

I have always played tennis from the age of 7 (that's nearly 43 years of tennis). I am good, not great but win much more than I lose.

I cannot see a time when I will stop playing tennis, without tennis I think I would turn into a wreck.

Tennis not only gives me excercise and a channel for my energy but is also my only social outlet. The tennis community seem to tolerate my none NT behaviour and because I am a good player I am always in demand. Before I was aware of my AS, my behaviour must have been extremely odd whereas now I think I am seen as just odd !

Running, weightlifting, and self defense are some of my special interests. If more than 2 days go by without a workout, I start to feel like I am going crazy.
I need to work out consistently.

Guess what my special interest is?

In addition to that, I have decided to try as many new activities as possible and meet as many people as possible to try and fight my social awkwardness. I can't say I've enjoyed all the activities but have lost weight and feel much stronger. Ironically hockey is probably the least physically demanding sport. To my surprise, Ultimate Frisbee is by far the most demanding sport I've ever played. I'm amazed at how most players are in excellent shape and aren't the stereotypical meatheads either. I just try to think of it as a slower, more methodical version of hockey and it's much more enjoyable.
