I have a very sedentary life-style as I work in an IT firm. I have very little time for exercise and I eat what the

caterer at work provides. I'd like to have a fit body and wondered if there is any diet or a fitness regime I could

follow to be fit.

I have none. I eat all the unhealthy garbage I physically can, and struggle to not lose weight. It's not very fun.

I do an intense weight session 3 times a week. I do 3 sessions of sit-ups (22.5 minutes per session) a week. I do some other exercises - 3 sets a week. I do running here and there. Also I do sport at uni XD

My diet - I diet a lot, as it helps to stay at my chosen weight.

I exercise on the treadmill for 30 minutes a day. My speed is 2.0.

I eat whatever my dietician tells me to eat.

I work out a little bit daily, alternating between strength training and cardio and try to work in a little flexibility training each day. I also work an office job, though, and sit much of the day most of the time, which I am aware is horrible, especially for someone like me with a bad back. I try to go for a walk and stretch a bit over my lunch break each day and find that helps a little.

Diet-wise, my main thing is that I try to cut out processed food as much as I can. If something contains HFCS or chemical preservatives I cannot pronounce, I avoid it like the plague. I try my best to go for organic foods, although I'm not 100% organic because it gets to be so expensive. I don't eat gluten or dairy and, for the most part, try to avoid foods that cause inflammation.

The inflammation thing is largely because I was hit by a drunk driver about a year ago and had a back and neck injury that was/still sometimes is very painful. And, oftentimes, pain from those types of injuries is related to inflammation. But, an anti-inflammatory diet can help with a host of other other conditions, too. It's not that hard to follow, either, and I think it's worth looking into for a lot of people.

There are lots of diet and exercise routines out there that could help. You just have to decide what is an important fitness goal for yourself and pick one appropriately. Do you want to lose weight? Do you want to put on muscle? Is speed and endurance more or less important than size and strength? Think about things like that, then head to google.

I work from home but I work in front of a computer like most of you and I've only just started getting into exercise (I'm nearly 30 so that was 3 decades of being both overweight and sedentary - if I can do it, anyone can :))

I do a bit of cardio and a bit of weight training every single day - my goal is to work up to doing a couple of hours of exercise a day over the next few years. I don't like going to the gym (noisy, people, blah blah) so I bought weights and work out at home. I'm sure I will reach a point where I will need to start using machines, but at the moment I just want to get into the habit of exercise.

Also I work as a medical translator at the moment and I have been influenced a lot by the studies that have passed by me!

Starting today I'm now doing an hour a day on the treadmill. I consume 1,800 calories a day.

To give you an example, here is my intake of today...

2 blueberry pancakes(240)
Granola bars(190)
Some random ramen thing(500)

So far I've had 930 calories. I need to keep track of my calories more often :P

rather than just slog on the treadmill for an hour, it would be more profitable to combine straight aerobic exercise with interval training where you go full tilt for 30 seconds to a minute, then back down to cruising speed for 3 minutes, then repeat for the duration of the exercise session. this would enable you to cut back the total time to a half hour but still get the same effective aerobic workout combined with some anaerobic aspects.

What do you mean by "slog"?

I'm trying to lose weight and gain strength. I'm currently overweight after my medication sent my appetite through the roof. I want to do martial arts in the future.

I count calories and eat about 1500 a day apart from special occasions. I also do cardio for about 45 minutes a day 6 days a week. I find the exercise makes it easier to diet, otherwise my meds would just make me want to eat all the time. I lift weights a bit every day, too.

It's not "difficult" for me.

I just started a carb restricted diet about a month ago. I limit myself to about 50g carbs/day with no caloric restrictions. I've lost an average of 5lbs/week so far (pretty much effortlessly).

I spin 30min/day 5 days/week (using my bike on a training stand). I also do chin-ups and dips every other day.
