What are your health/fitness resolutions for 2019? Include goals and methods, and we can encourage each other. Mine is to reduce my waist size. Right now it's at 36 inches (91.5cm). Apparently a waist circumference of 80 centimetres or more (for women) indicates internal fat deposits and a measurement of 88 centimetres or more indicates a higher increased risk of chronic disease. So I'm going to see if I can at least get down below 34 inches (about 87.5cm). I'm hopeless at sticking to diets and I'm on meds that are notorious for weight gain (mirtazapine/remeron) so wish me luck! I'm attempting to cut down on processed carbs, going wholegrain, and I'll try cutting out snacks between meals as well.
I wish you the best of luck. with the standard caution of "
your mileage may vary," I can tell you what works for me-
*cut out refined carbs as much as possible, that includes sugars and starches
outside of raw veggies and fruits.
*cut out anything with corn syrup in it.
*cut out fruit juices and beverages sweetened with sugar, fructose or corn syrup.
*cut out anything containing gluten [wheat] and gliadin [oats] as they are inflammatory. IOW, wholegrain doesn't work.
*cut out white rice, white potatoes, white anything, including all pasta.
*avoid popcorn, as it is highly inflammatory.
*most days, rain or shine, walk fast on hilly terrain, walk like one is late for work.
*core exercises every day, which together with vigorous walking will improve muscle tone, increase muscle mass and increase metabolism/calorie burning.
