Hey, first time poster to this thread. I'm an avid cyclist, and I've been commuting about since the first big winter thaw. I don't own a car, public transport around here is slow, highly un-punctual, and just generally sucks. It's all buses around here, nothing cool that moves on rails...
Anyways..
Did a 23km round trip today, in my daily pursuit for a job. I'm looking for a job in autobody, specifically Paint/prepping; honestly I'll take anything at this point. Summer's probably the worst time to go looking for a job in this trade, the flow of accidents slow down considerably. It's showing, because I arrived back home with no openings..
But I digress. It was a generally windless day, which is always good. Nothing worse than fighting your way through the wind; but once you change direction and start flowing with it, effortlessly reaching top speed is the best.
Only real highlight on this trip was that I maintained a 45km/h cruising speed for about 2km once I hit a local greenway. I had no actual speedo reading, but I was speed matching cars (50km/h limit on parallel running road). My leg strength and stamina have increased considerably this year.
2 weeks ago I embarked on a similarly goaled journey. I went from the northern perimeter area of my city all the way to the southern industrial area for job applications. It was a full-on day trip, totaling 50-60kms round trip. That, so far, has been my longest cycling trip to date.
OH AND HERE'S A PICTURE OF MY BLUE BIKE. (Big Daddy Tazz anyone?)
