Back from another game, a good result, was on the pitch for most of it, and I didn't make any newbie mistakes this week :D.

Yesterday I did some weights and swam 30 laps of butterfly.

My deadlift for reps is now above my own body weight. :)

Very much so auntblabby, as I've mentioned when I post how much weight I can do especially on the shoulder press I tore the right rotator cuff of my shoulder girdle over twenty years ago and it never healed properly. My shoulder aches all the time so I don't do much more than 40# on a good day on the shoulder press.

wow :o you have quite a high pain tolerance :wtg:

Yeah mebbe so but I was crying like a bebe this morning over the pains in my joints + sinuses + feet (a major drawback of gym: athlete's foot fungi live there) + menstrual cramps. Plus I just plain didn't want to go to work; they tolerate me there but very few of them pretend to like me.

Anyway no gym this week, dysmenorrhagia always wipes me out.

So that means I can't put the thread back on topic. Is there a couch potato thread?

Back breaking work today and yesterday, I'm so sore and tired, I've decided that it definitely counts as a work out.

Did weights. I've hit 40kg (for 3 sets of 10) on my bench press.
After I go offline I'm going to go swim 40 laps of butterfly.

Man, what a beautiful morning!! !

Just to break things up, I headed south when I hit the greenway... and I just kept going. I did about 27 miles. It was a fun, enjoyable trike ride, but I'm really feeling it now. My legs are getting VERY sore.

Now, just to spite all that effort, I think I'll have pizza and beer for lunch.

Hey, first time poster to this thread. I'm an avid cyclist, and I've been commuting about since the first big winter thaw. I don't own a car, public transport around here is slow, highly un-punctual, and just generally sucks. It's all buses around here, nothing cool that moves on rails...

Anyways..

Did a 23km round trip today, in my daily pursuit for a job. I'm looking for a job in autobody, specifically Paint/prepping; honestly I'll take anything at this point. Summer's probably the worst time to go looking for a job in this trade, the flow of accidents slow down considerably. It's showing, because I arrived back home with no openings..
But I digress. It was a generally windless day, which is always good. Nothing worse than fighting your way through the wind; but once you change direction and start flowing with it, effortlessly reaching top speed is the best. 8)
Only real highlight on this trip was that I maintained a 45km/h cruising speed for about 2km once I hit a local greenway. I had no actual speedo reading, but I was speed matching cars (50km/h limit on parallel running road). My leg strength and stamina have increased considerably this year.

2 weeks ago I embarked on a similarly goaled journey. I went from the northern perimeter area of my city all the way to the southern industrial area for job applications. It was a full-on day trip, totaling 50-60kms round trip. That, so far, has been my longest cycling trip to date.

OH AND HERE'S A PICTURE OF MY BLUE BIKE. (Big Daddy Tazz anyone?)

^^^ Nice! Wish I could still ride two wheelers!

So, tuesday I went south again, but I only did 21 miles. The southern end of the local greenway is much older and more developed. Lots of nice tall trees and shade, lots of streams, tunnels and SNAKES!! ! (in the tunnels) ...and lots of ridiculously tame urban squirrels too.

Wednesday I took off and went to the doctor (he's trying to talk me into more spinal surgery :x ).... Today, I took the southern route again, did the full 21 miles and almost ran over a squirmy little snake and two crazy, suicidal squirrels--little buggars ran right out in front of me!! ! :o

Played two Tag games in a row :D. In total 70 minutes on the field.
I did lose my coordination completely at one point, tripping over my own feet and falling to the ground randomly lol... but I'm making a lot less mistakes, the highlight for me was when I managed to catch up to one of the faster guys and tag him just in time to stop his try. 8)

So, I did 21 miles yesterday on my new trike route. I really like this new course. It has several miles of long low inclines and two truly steep and brutal hills.

Anyway, it's a bit tougher and now I'm doing one day on, one day off....

ok so I clearly lost some ground by not going in for almost two weeks, but last night:

33 minutes on the elliptical--not fast, but at level 4-5 resistance instead of level 0. I think I averaged 2.7 mph.

All the weight machines I did before except the shoulder press. Shoulder hurting from the pec/deltoid and abs crunch so I skipped the shoulder press, and was only able to manage 30-40# on most of the upper body machines and 60-70# on the lower.

But I used the
Leg Press (up to 75?)
Hip Abductor/Adductor (this goes in increments of 7# for some reason and so I did 21#/42#. The adductor muscles are much bigger so able to do more weight, but it kinda hurt my hamstrings at 42# so I moved the level lever from 7 to 6 for the final set.
Pec/Deltoid fly--I couldn't believe how hard this was last night after it seemed so easy the first time I tried it! I don't think I did even 35#, maybe 25 and not many reps. :(
Rower--again, ouch, I lost momentum. 30-35# and wussed out quickly. I kept getting up thinking "shut up, don't judge me" as if people were watching and laughing at how little I was able to do. And thinking they should try being mid-forties and coming off three years at a sedentary desk job with junk food to eat and a shoulder injury to boot.
Torso twist (65# or maybe 75# Idk) even this I think I was almost up to 90# before but it seemed much harder last night.
Abs crunch--I think I felt like I was dying by this point--maybe 40#? I kept making it 5# less for the next 10 instead of more  on purpose because it hurt.
Skipped the shoulder press
Chest press--had to wait for a guy to finish it then move the weight from like 190# or something down to like 20#. Still felt like too much and quit pretty quick.

So then I got on the treadmill and got distracted by facebook. I didn't go real slowly this time, though, and set it to randomly adjust then incline. I manually upped my speed until I was going 2.7 mph. I did a little over half an hour again.

So kind of a short workout, with awfully low weight resistance, but it was exhausting. No AC and quite hot in the gym. I gotta go more often so I can do better each time instead of wussing out on the weights.
