Is anyone into any kind of martial art?
1st kyu in Aikido, overdue for shodan test due to health and life setbacks. I've been in a number of real-life scuffles before starting Aikido, though, so I try and augment my technique with common sense.
I also tried Judo, Krav Maga, and boxing.
A year ago I got snapping hip syndrome for training under a dickhead instructor in our dojo. Our main instructor is great, but this guy teaches one class a week, and he is a dangerous headcase with a history of causing injuries.
The irony of this is, before this guy, we had another headcase with very similar training style. And on one day, those two met. These are the two dudes who never let anyone throw them, because they cancel the technique they know is coming. In the resulting battle of the titans, the previous headcase got seriously injured and put out of commission for a long time. Which is the quintessence and the ultimate end result of their training style - mangling your body with no real benefit.
