I don't know if this qualifies but I compulsively drain the last micro-bits out of whatever food container I've used, I take hot water and wash out cans of food, I put the can washings in containers and use them later to cook with.

I ate a piece of dry cat food once. It tasted gritty and yucky.

I used to eat my buggers. I also used to put things like pens in my mouth & play with them with my hands & tongue but I would never chew on them.

I used to eat chalk and paper and I bit the drywall from the inward facing corners of my walls as a kid, but these days I'm still comfortable eating almost anything that is a product of my body without hesitation. As someone with ARFID, I'll take what good tastes I can get; foods don't get much safer than parts of you. I also used to stim by putting my bitten fingernails between my teeth like floss. I repressed nail-biting for a while but it's coming back.

I've certainty ruined plenty of objects by biting them, like remote control buttons or the rubber cover on a game controller's analog stick.

My flatmate peels dry skin off her feet and eats it. Also toenails. I suspect that she would agree with you, quincium, it's safe if it's parts of herself.

But she also chews on bits of plastic, rubber bands, she always has something in her mouth to chew on.

Another weird thing I remember seeing somebody eat on that program "Strange Addiction" was tape. The woman had discarded tape all over the place that she had spit out. It looked like a bunch of spitballs and was really gross.
