So "wait for it" and "discuss" are the new meds.

not so much discussion, as the only person i had available to act as a sounding board, was/is the reflection in the mirror. but waiting for the frontal lobes of my late-developing brain to fully come on line, so they could chug through all my memories and parse the deeper meanings from them all, was an unavoidable stop on the way to greater wisdom and equanimity. i hope that made sense.

That makes sense, my amygdala has a very loud voice on any given day, but I get those days when my thinking slows down and I'm not depressed, and I'm not too afraid to be wrong. It's kind of motivating for new experience when you realize that it'll all make sense later.

Zero, none, and do take krill oil once per day and have read it may decrease depression. Generally take as little medicine as possible. 8)

Currently, I am taking Focalin and Abilify. Both seem to help me focus in school. I started taking psych meds about 4 years ago. I started on some drug that made me very lethargic(I believe it was Xanax, I can't remember for sure). Since then, the amounts of Focalin and Abilify have steadily increased.

I was prescribed something, I can't remember the name of it. But guess what? I took one pill and never took it again. I never told the doctor.

i really need a smart pill.

Smart pill? hehe

I know of something called Piracetam, a few people in my family along with myself actually take it. It's a "Nootropic" that stimulates your acetylcholine (ACh) receptors, which are implicated in memory and thought functions. Basically Piracetam helps improve your memory recall.

If you want more information on it you can check out these two links. The first link is general information regarding Piracetam including dosage, and the second one contains a long list of researches done with Piracetam (including one that is downloadable near the top):

smartdrugsforthought[.]com/what-is-piracetam
smartdrugsforthought[.]com/piracetam-research

And while these last few are not exactly "smart pills" they do promote healthy brains and overall brain functionality. Of course I'm going to say any Omega-3 fish oil would be a wise supplement to take, a Vitamin B-complex (B-100 is a good one), ginko biloba, L-theanine (found in green tea), and a choline source (these help replenish your acetylcholine neurotransmitters).

I really hope this helps you find some solace!

I hate SSRIs, I was doing better before I ever took them  never again, and if I was in a psych ward and they tried to force me to take an SSRI I would probably attempt to fight to the death cause I don't want a chemical lobotomy.

Honestly I've been on more than I can list.

I am currently taking: adderall, paxil, gabapentin, lithium, lamictal and tenex.

I took Ritalin against my will for about a week at age 12.
Thankfully, my kidneys started to bleed, so I didn't have to take it anymore after that... I had to take lots of other medicine to fix that though. =_=

that sounds like child abuse to me, to be forced to take a harmful drug against your will.

I've taken Lexapro and Citalopram (Celexa).
Lexapro didn't make me less anxious or less depressed, just a lot more social. So that was a bit of an awkward disaster.
Citalopram made my anxiety attacks back off a bit. I was pleased.

I've been on Lexapro and Klonopin, but I stopped both of them cold turkey. The Lexapro was incredibly dangerous for me because it started to cause me to lose self-awareness and the ability to follow instructions. One day, I was driving and there was a sign for a detour (which I totally saw), but it never occurred to me to follow it. Thankfully, there was a police officer there who stopped me, otherwise I would have gone head on into opposing traffic. 8O

So yeah, no more meds for me. Withdrawal from Lexapro was absolute hell, but I got through it and I haven't taken anything since.

I went on Paxil for about a month. I gained ten pounds, totally killed sex for me, and I could not stay awake. My young child got out because I nodded off on the couch, which resulted in a frantic call to the police when I realized what happened. He had decided to take off on his bike to" get some hamburgers". Everything turned out okay, but those pills hit the garbage quick, and I felt like the worst mother in the world for a bit there.
