This was back in the 19th century. Nowadays, you might find tapeworm segments for sale online but I would be too scared to swallow one.

One time I saw a 27 ft. long tapeworm in a jar preserved in formaldehyde. It used to be inside a whale. :eew:

It burns calories...

As far as eating 5 small meals a day, it depends. I'd say yes, if you're being active, this'll be good, as it'll keep your metabolism up, but if you're not, then no. The other thing too, with 5 small meals a day, people vastly overestimate the amount of calories they eat anyway, so 5 meals if you're eating a crapload of calories per meal is dumb. That said, this man here eats 2 big meals a day, to keep his weight high. Really...

Anxiety and depression can be quite effective. Of course for some it has the opposite effect. Either way I wouldn't recommend it...

Not very healthy at all, but it's a stimulant so yeah it would work.

Quote:
Losing Weight Was Never So Easy

Bill had a weight problem in high school. At 6' 2", he would fluctuate between 170 and 300 pounds. For you non-American readers, that means he went from tall and skinny to tall and fat pretty regularly. But once he discovered meth, that all changed. That s**t is a miracle weight-loss drug.

The last time I saw him, Bill was 130 pounds, and he achieved that 170-pound loss without a single minute of exercise. You see, meth gives you an unnatural amount of energy, so on top of his metabolism being skyrocketed into deity level, everything he did was performed three times faster than normal. One time, I watched him do the dishes so hard they caught on fire. Since it produces so much energy, the body thinks that it's been fed, so it stops sending out those annoying signals telling you to drop what you're doing and go eat.

Though I guess I should point out that not all of that weight loss was fat. Some of it was teeth. I don't know how much teeth weigh, but it's got to account for something, right?

Methamphetamines cause teeth to rapidly decay and eventually fall out. Meth dries out your mouth, which destroys your gums. It also makes you clench and grind your teeth, so much that they crack. Also, there is the fact that meth seems to turn off the part of your brain that worries about hygiene, period. As tooth-destruction methods go, it ranks right below "a hammer" and just above that Edward Norton curb stomp in American History X.

Regardless, that was just one more thing he didn't have to worry about. Brushing teeth takes time, and when you're on a schedule as tight as Bill's was, you need every free second you can squeeze out of a day. And this is no doubt part of what kept him in such incredible shape. If you don't have the ability to take in the calories in the first place, it makes it that much easier to avoid ballooning back up to 300 and having to start the cycle all over again.

I take my favorite waterbottle and three rubber bands...plus a few extras for penatly bands. the goal is to drink three bottles of water during the day and for each bottle of water you drink remove a rubber band. after your rubber bands are gone allow yourself one serving of junk food if you want more junk food you have to drink two bottles of water per serving. I like this because i can do it and still follow doctors orders and i dont feel hungry. I have Hypoglycemia and have to eat every few hours. Plus it is healthy nothing extream just habbit changes

Water isn't always healthy, watch out for Water intoxication. When the brain swell, you know it's bad. :) But hey, rubber bands to keep track is a really good idea.

When it comes to Hypoglycemia, do you count drinking water as having eaten?

Black coffee can be helpful. Some times I will have a hot cup during or after a meal and it seems to help aid digestion. Fidgeting also does burn calories, I almost forgot. There was some T.V. show that said some fidgeters can lose up to 300 calories a day simply due to fidgeting. Not that I support fidgeting to lose weight

It reduces hunger, contains no calories, and makes you fidgety so you tend to burn more energy.

However, you need to make sure that it doesn't mess with your sleep habits, because bad sleep habits promote weight gain.

Yard work or housework is good too. Keeping active and being positive is also very important.

Do lots of yard work. Pushing cars around helps as well. Try to find a hobby that requires a lot of physical activity that yields concrete results so it feels like accomplishing something greater than yourself. Like remodeling houses or something similar. That way you can use up calories while creating something you will feel proud of. This might make the weight loss seem easier and more productive.

Yeah they sure can. Both legal and illegal stimulants help weight loss. In only some severe cases I think they are prescribed or even recommended by doctors for weight loss though. As for anxiety disorders, it can work for and against you. Some people lose weight, some people gain weight due to the extra stress. And for your other topic, sex is generally quite a physical activity, so yes it does burn calories and can aid in weightloss. I've had an unfortuante experience with someone who would just lay there though, and I know she wasn't burning many calories.:P

Stimulants, I don't need to lose weight if anything I need to gain some...but stimulants cause your body to use more energy which can promote some weight loss, not that it's a healthy way though. Obviously caffeine and nicotine are basically the legal stimulants unless you can get a prescription for ADHD meds. Anyways I don't advise that as a healthy way but I know stimulants can have that effect.

Five small meals generally means.. five small meals as in low calorie meals. This should not put most people in a bad position if their meals are actually small. Even for people not very active. Typical meal schedule for people is "breakfast, lunch, snack, dinner, and maybe desert" so I don't think 5 small meals is pushing it. That's just me though. Two big meals a day for that guy I can imagine is pretty damn big and he seems to be eating for mass so he can lift big. He looks dang near 400lbs.

That's a good idea. I make sure I keep a gallon jug of water around me during most days. Since it is right there with me I make sure the water is gone before I go to bed. It was a goal to drink that much at first, now it is something that is easy to do. I don't know if it's a good idea for other people, since I do work out and work up a good sweat. Due to drinking this much water though I find it keeps the appetite and cravings from coming out as much as they do when I drink the standard 8 glasses a day, which can result in weight loss and weight management.

Another thing is peppers. For me it's Jalapenos, Habanero, and other much hotter peppers and recipes that call for them in order to make for a hot dish or just a very hot salsa or hot sauce... All very good if you're into hot stuff. Here is one quote from a site
"Both hot and sweet peppers contain substances that have been shown to increase the body's heat production and oxygen consumption for about 20 minutes after eating. This is great news; it means your body is burning extra calories, which helps weight loss."

With really hot peppers, I've experienced even longer periods of time where my bodyheat was increased. The main substance that makes peppers hot is Capsaicin, and some peppers have more than others.. I notice after a hot meal involving really hot peppers I inhale and exhale deeper for a little bit so I get more oxygen, and I actually feel kind of like I just got done doing a run due to the breathing and the extra heat in my mouth and body. Some times I will even sweat. After reading this quote it makes some sense why people burn calories after eating peppers, especially hot ones. Let's not forget peppers are extremely healthy too, loaded with lots of vitamins!

I find laughing to be an extremely good way to lose weight. If you watch tv, go for a comedy and it will work perfectly. It will work even better if you stand while you watch the show instead of sitting.

I'm seriously going to write a book about the salmonella diet. Eat rotten chicken and old raw eggs-- lick your pet turtle and lizard.

Actually--I'm joking. I wouldn't want anyone to get sick. --Really.

And it's not an easy diet. I ate some SUPER old chicken the other day and I didn't even get sick. I was sure I would get food poisoning--but no. Of course, I wasn't trying to get sick, just to save money.

Overall, I think the trick with losing weight is to just find what works for you. Something does. The best way I've gotten fit was using weight training and aerobics in conjunction with restricting calories.

You could also brave a juice fast (with fresh veg. juice).

My lizard is pretty clean thank you, clean enough to kiss, and I do. Now if I were to lick his poop that would be a different story. With all the rodent and other raw meat he consumes.

Juice fasts work, or just straight eating veggies/vegetables period... I know a guy who lost 25lbs in 25 days just eating, juicing, and blending his diet of only veggies and fruit. He was very overweight though, but still. I'm sure it works for others less hefty.

no the whole point to eating every couple of hours is to take in sugars that my body doesn't store the way its supposed to and as far as water intoxication i found that three bottles of water usually is about the right amount i dont mean just go around drinking gallons of water daily

This is both specious and inaccurate. Inaccurate because one can lose weight even with increased calories if one exercises more; specious in the same way that telling a teenager, 'just don't have sex,' is a specious answer to the question of how to prevent teen pregnancies.
