Very interesting thread; thank you for posting it.
I've been taking a break from exercise for a while and have been meaning to get back into being physically-present through yoga.

Can anyone by chance recommend some online videos, preferably free?
Where did you guys learn about it as a practice?

Thanks. :)

Where are you from, ValentineWiggin? I cannot peronally recommend an online video, because all physical practices are not alike... Nor are all teachings alike... What is it you are loooking for in a practice/study?

I'm really flexible, so I'm looking for something that involves some contortionist-style stuff.
I also like the fluidity of some of the styles, IE, a focus on graceful movement between poses.
My main focus, though, is on using it to build my strength and tone my body.

Quite the laundry list, I guess. :D

Airplane is a fun one

I'm too indecisive to pick a favorite, it tends to vary from day to day depending on where I'm tight.

Bikram is great for getting deeper into poses and sweating out toxins but it does get slippery.

Nothing better than laying back in "windbreaker" and letting one go... if you aren't farting you aren't doing it right. Get over your dainty little selves if it grosses you out, its how bodies are supposed to work.

The only gross bodies are dead bodies.

Love the way you think! But... What is gross about a dead body? It is the natural cycle of life... Why call death gross and life beauty? What is beautiful about life? Is not the passing onto another realm or life just as beautiful?

I do a mixture of yoga styles, but my favourite so far is vinyasa.

As for favourite pose, I like half king of the fishes. And favourite sequence has to bee sun salutation :)
