I'm Bloody sick of it! What's even worse, is that it happens in my own family. I weigh a healthy 185 lbs, for most of the month. 190 for a week before my Period. My mum has four heavy siblings. She should know that burly, healthy people run in our family. There were also some heavyweights from my dad's side of the family. Ten years ago, when I was at 145 lbs, I was sick, five times a year..

180lb (12.9) isn’t heavy at all, I find it quite romantic, when a woman who is the roughly the same weight as me. Only you would know, what your ideal weight is should be. Do you think you wish to attract a man in your life and think the weight loss would be better?

The sacrifices might be worth it or it might not, I had to make a sacrifice to lose weight, and even shave too; me and my family didn’t like how I looked but everyone else thought I look much better, so I went with it.

Personally I like the a woman who is slightly chubbier then average, unfortunately here in England they tend to be Chavs, and non intellectuals who I have nothing in common with.

In some cultures (and to certain people with certain fetishes), being big and round is considered hot.

Myself, I don't think it's to do with overall weight so much as where that weight is distributed. But I'm not getting into that.

Ancient Greeks?

And some country near the Black Sea, but I cannot remember which...

On the other hand, my weight gain is going so well that I was allowed to go for my first run in 4 months today! It was so enjoyable that I cannot wait until I can go again!

Maybe this is a healthy weight for you. I don't know how tall you are, what your body fat percentage is...but anyhow, for my height 185 is in the normal weight range, and I would be quite happy with that weight :)

I would be concerned not so much with the numbers on a scale, but with eating healthy things, and making sure you feel well enough to be active. I'm not a skinny girl, but I'm athletic...And just because I'm not thin I know someone who can do , strength training, yoga, and 45 minutes of cardio all in one day is not out of shape.

I am 5'10" and 195 lbs, and I think I'm fat.

There's fat and there's fat. Some people are just plain unhealthy. But I have a friend who is quite fat but he is very good at swimming and is on the team. He also does sponsored walks.

women are expected to be in a certain build range because they bear children, and that has, in evolutionary terms, very strict physical requirements historically speaking, additionally there are certain societal expectations which have beenaffected in any number of ways and continue to be affected in an increasing number of ways

men need to have healthy\complimentary immune systems and be "secure"

I am making a gross oversimplification of the matter, but I am pointing in the direction that I feel an answer properly lies, a very very complicated answer which I am ill equipped to provide to the level of resolution that would be satisfactory

The human body, male or female, is viewed as a piece of art. Art doesn't always conform. There are variations, sometimes in the extreme. The human body similarly can vary. But like art, the ideal form is different across ages and cultures. Right now, thin is beautiful, perhaps because it is more uncommon. Not everyone is easily thin, however, so there is anorexia. So thin can be dangerous. In the other extreme, fat is dangerous. But average art and average people: where is the excitement or uniqueness in that?

I'm 5'8, male, and weigh 200 pounds, although I used to be 250. I was definitely fat when I was 250. Now I simply consider myself overweight. My ideal weight is about 175 according to my doctor, and I'm hoping to hit that by my next birthday in September as I'm not really happy about how my body looks.

The most important thing in my opinion is to be happy about how you look. I've seen people that look pretty bad but don't seem to be bothered by it in the least. I'm trying to get into the mindset of being happy with myself even though I'm not perfect. That's not an excuse to be unhealthy though.

You are still in the realm of being a reasonable size, you're a pretty attractive person so don't worry.

Although society says it's the way you should be, not everybody actually wants to be "as skinny as a stalk of celery"!

As Sir Mix-A-Lot once quipped: "I'm tired of magazines sayin' flat butts are the thing..."

Our fitness levels are measured by the energy we put forth on a CONSISTENT BASIS. This means we can only surmise so much from the details you provided. One example does not suffice.

From a logical standpoint, I can say your story is hard to fathom. For one, it does not coincide with medical evidence at all. Had you lost a significant portion of weight over a short period of time, then yes, I may be inclined to believe you, but as of now your story sounds more like personal bias than fact.

Don't get me wrong, you're allowed to feel good about yourself no matter the circumstance, but consider the circumstance if you would please. 185, as someone eluded, is not a healthy weight for a woman. There are serious risks involved with being overweight, and if you don't believe me ask your doctor.

Hit the gym/find a sport you enjoy. You'll be healthier, look better, live longer, feel better, etc. I find exercise really helps with depression too, maybe that's a benefit you would find from it too.

I'm on 47kg now.

I feel stronger, fitter and my mind works at its original speed.

I envy those who can eat as they want and remain naturally thin. I spent over 10 years with anorexia and then, after recovering, I developed an underactive thyroid which means I can never go back to being anywhere near thin. Even reaching 126 would be hard now, I think. I am 5'10 and around 133. But I eat a lot, I want to eat less. I average around 2000 a day, sometimes more, and do 2 hours of exercise 4-5 times a week.

I was SO lucky with anorexia. All my hormone levels are normal (well, except a few reproductive hormones, which explains my absence of periods for the last year and a month) and my blood sugar is fine. Although I have arrythmias, but I can still live a normal physical life.
It was a huge struggle to gain weight though, because I was born with hyperkinetic disorder. So I cannot stop moving sometimes. Even now my leg is moving and it has no desire to stop!
My BMI is 18.1, which to many doctors would be underweight. However I am convincing my doctor that I was always "underweight" (I was born at 5lb) and I will always be, because of genetics. My Mum has a BMI of 17.8. I have to eat around 2,400 calories to maintain my weight, with hyperkinetic disorder and burning around 300 kcal doing exercise every day.
I am a health freak, though, and will not eat many things such as pizza, chips and rubbish chocolate.
