I'm getting tired of having painful feet and weak ankles and clicking knees
The plantar fasciitis has got so bad in one foot I think I might be walking with a stick tomorrow.
I find it a bit embarrassing when my various aches and pains become obvious like that.
People ask me how I injured myself when I didn't - my body has just decided to break down and fall apart.
I guess this is not autism-related.
Probably I'm just getting arthritis or something.
Anyway, please moan about your painful joints here...
Go on, let it all out!
I had plantar fasciiitis for 4 years and truly feel your pain! I was really into fitness, but was caught out on a trip with my eldest son on a day out in Birmingham. A beautiful mother/adult son day but I hadn’t bargained on walking my feet off in the shoes I wore. Mornings and nights, as with rising from a sitting position were agony, and I couldn’t believe the impact! Shooting pains down my legs and I have never been one to see a Doc, in spite of having worked in the field! After 3 years of ridiculous suffering, I finally decided enough was enough.
What helped: Genuine plantar fascitis inner soles(I bought about 3 pairs from Amazon/Ebay). These make a massive difference in helping you “learn” to walk again.
I bought Skechers shoes and some new good quality dress shoes for dating etc.
I had physio at my local hospital and was given some good advice for exercises to strengthen and heal the feet. Both my feet were badly damaged. The Physio was very good. He had me lay on the bed and checked me over hip-wise and tummy-wise, and had me walk for him, so he could see “how” I was having to place my feet in order to walk.
He had me buy a golf ball ... which really did help! The idea was to massage the feet with it, applying pressure over the soles, and this really did help, felt soothing.
The other exercise involved placing the palms of your hands against the wall and slowly lifting one foot at a time, from the heel to the toe off the ground and back down again.
It can take a very long time to heel from plantar, depending on how bad the damage is. It’s usually mostly seen in long distance runners(ironically, I used to represent Queensland in long distance running/cross country) and never had any foot problems.
I learned from a High School friend I went to school with in Aus, that she too has had fasciitis and it was very debilitating for her as well.
I’m still not fully recovered from it even now. I notice that whenever I get up from sitting position, my feet take a bit to adjust, and I’m thinking they were so badly damaged that they may never fully repair. Doesn’t stop me from doing what I need to do now and going on long cross country walks to castles etc. I live to travel and explore! The Doc said you need to rest your feet as much as possible for them to heal, but I needed to walk my dog, so couldn’t stop walking him daily, even though the pain was ridiculous. Thankfully, I’m back hiking across fjords again in Norway and climbing volcanoes in Iceland! I bought a wonderful outdoor hot tub/spa, set it up in a heavy duty all-weather gazebo for privacy, and that has really helped as well. Best therapy ever ... water therapy!
Just remembered the other important pain relief antidote ... Voltarol pain relief cream! My feet and legs were in pain even throughout the night. Voltarol made a big difference and the Doc said to use Ibuprofin too as needed.
Again, sorry to hear about your pain and hope you manage to find some good relief.
