Seeing a doctor about your hypochria tendencies? That’s what I meant.

Well wouldn't all sorts of things go through your head if you had an unknown pain in your side that you've never had before?

I should have posted this in the haven so that I could have gotten more reassurance rather than being told it's basically all in my head. What if it really is pancreatic cancer? I wouldn't be a...hypochria? hypochromia?

Quote:
Hypochromia means that the red blood cells have less color than normal when examined under a microscope. This usually occurs when there is not enough of the pigment that carries oxygen (hemoglobin) in the red blood cells.

No. This:

Quote:
Hypochondria is a type of anxiety disorder. It is also known as health anxiety, or illness anxiety disorder, or hypochondriasis. It is normal for people to worry about their health now and again. But people who experience hypochondria get very worried that they are seriously ill, or are about to become seriously ill.

It could be a muscle strain?
Did you do any unusual physical work lately?

I get pains, too, from time to time.
It usually gets better in 3 or 4 days if it is muscle related.

You did write "hypochria", which Google translated it to "hypochromia".

I know what hypocondria is, basically it means all in my head. But no, the symptoms I have could be anything, and one in two people get cancer in their lifetimes, which is the same statistic as gender (half the population). That's how scary it is and so it should make sense to take notice of any symptom of anything.

If my mum had been a hypocondriac she might not have died from cancer.

It feels like a stitch. I can feel it more if I'm yawning or breathe in deeply while lying down. It doesn't hurt so much when I'm walking about. But I've been lying down a lot in the last few days because of the vertigo and not being well. I'm hoping to get out for a peaceful walk around the graveyard with my partner today. Maybe I just need some fresh air.

Uh-huh.. and have you noticed the pattern yet that every time you feel a new sensation, be it pain or gas or strain or whatever, you jump to conclusions and convince yourself it must be cancer or Ebola or whatever instead of.. just a pain ? :?

That sort of anxiety about every little thing that ever happens to your body is abnormal and unhealthy.

I don't like people keep saying "yeah it's just you being anxious" and "go get therapy". I think I may have cancer, in my rectum now, and I'm terrified of having a colonoscopy. I'm hoping because the feeling is lower down near the opening it might not require all the preparation (drinking foul-tasting laxative stuff and having severe diarrhea for like a day). I don't have blood in my stools, but neither did my mum, and turned out she had stage 4 bowel cancer. I'm going to get it too.

You need to speak to your doctor about this.

Maybe it's a hemorrhoid.

But definitely by having extremely high off the charts anxiety about every medical issue you're going to stress yourself actually sick. Anxiety and stress like this negatively affect your immune system, and things that could have stayed very minor could develop into actual worse illnesses all because you worry an extreme amount about every little medical thing possibly being the worst case scenario.

That's something you should address with a doctor/therapist so that you don't actually stress yourself sick when you're otherwise just fine.

You can't really be blamed for feeling so anxious considering what you've been through.

To be fair I don't think there's many living people who don't worry about cancer at some time in their lives. I know I have in the past.

I have been through a lot. Seeing a loved one close to you die from cancer can amplify stress and anxiety about cancer. I hardly ever used to worry about cancer, it's one of those things that you think won't happen to you or those you love until it does (not referring to you, just speaking in second person). My mum's cancer nurse once said that there are probably loads of people walking around right now with cancer but without even knowing it, just getting a pain every now and then and thinking it's nothing, unbeknownst to them that it could be cancer silently spreading. My mum didn't have any alarming symptoms until it was too late. The only symptom she had was loss of appetite...but I am lacking appetite too, which is unusual for me. :(
