The realignment made sense. I can't imagine this will lead to another lockout but you never know.

That's what concerns me the most. The possibilty of a lockout for the NHL, what I'm going to do next season if it's cancelled? Watch Golf?

This will just be a chip in the next CBA. The union will probably concede in exchange for being allowed to compete in Sochi.

The battle in the next negotiations will probably not be over the salary cap but rather the salary floor; just ask the people in charge of the Panthers how much they like the floor.

Maybe the various networks will show classic NHL - preferably from the era where there was actually scoring.

 Florida Panthers, just what were they thinking?

By the way Dallas is 23-16 right now going against Anaheim. Which is tied for first in our division, but because of all our losses we are in the middle of the pack right now.

Anyone see that Red Wings vs Blackhawks match? What an intense game. Great job by Howard and Crawf and this was Bertuzzi's game right here. The first goal by the Blackhawks was a fluke, but they definitely earned their second goal. I just hate how some of the Red Wings fans I know try to downplay that

btw I heard that the Bruins lost to the Hurricanes. How the hell did that happen? :?

Missed the Wings and the Hawks, but saw the B's lose to the 'Canes. Boston was playing decent enough and was ahead 2-1 more than halfway through the third ... and then the bottom fell out. Three unanswered Carolina goals including two in the last 90 seconds. Can't win 'em all. :(

Thrilling game between the Bruins and Panthers just ended with a shootout victory by Boston. Patrice Bergeron was a stud with two goals and another "unofficial" goal in the shootout. Krejci gets the winner in the fourth round of the shootout. Woooo!

I went to the Coyotes game yesterday and it was great. 6-1 victory over Colorado. They needed a big victory after not winning a game on there previous road trip.

Why couldn't the Stars do that to Colorado when we played them? I love the Stars, but sometimes they drive me crazy. :x

* double post * :oops:

This month has not been kind to the Stars at all. We lost the majority of our games, and what bugs me is that most of the games were decided by one goal. We're stuck in the middle of our division, and right now are 9th or tenth in the Western Conference.
This is the same exact scenario that happened to us last season as well. The only difference now is we have a owner who knows hockey.

Well, all things considered, the Bruins have kind of stumbled into the All-Star break. Still playing decent enough and are sitting in first by 4 points with 5 games in hand on second place Ottawa. But they're not playing at the level they were at through November and December, when they were el fuego (as Dan Patrick used to say :D ). Plus the whole Tim Thomas debacle and the 5-game Marchand suspension have been significant distractions. Get it out of your systems now, boys, and lock in for the playoffs.

Sharks are plugging along and sitting in first place as well. San Jose is consistently good ... not really catching anyone's attention for good or bad ... just showing up every night and putting a lot of Ws up on the board. I like the team's business-like approach to the regular season. The real season doesn't start until Lord Stanley says it does. :)

Speaking of the All-Star Game, what are your thoughts on the Alex Ovechkin situation? Should he play or not, despite the suspension for the hit? * speaking of hits, name one guy who you would love to have on your team? *

Mine would be Nicklas Kronwall... need I say more. :P

There seems to be a lot of strange things happening around the NHL these days. If Ovechkin doesn't want to be there, oh well, go home to Russia for a week, say hi to family and friends and be ready for the second half of the season. Long damn haul for a lot of these foreign-born players to be gone for so long year in and year out. Plus, no breaks for perennial All-Stars like Ovechkin. I imagine they probably get a little homesick, so I think there could be a little of that at play in his decision.

I guess so.
You're right, and with everything that has happened. Who knows what else could pop up? Anyways topic for discussion, who are some guys that you like or respect. Even if they play for a rival team, for me it would be Pavel Datsyuk and Nicklas Kronwall. With Datsyuk it's unreal what he can do with a stick, and Kronwall to me is one of the best open-ice hitters in the game.

I love Matt Moulson of the New York Islanders. Cornell is my favorite college team (went there but didn't graduate). I always like it when their guys do well in the NHL. Douglas Murray, Matt Moulson, Colin Greening. Since Murray is already on the Sharks, I'll take Moulson on the Bruins or Sharks in a heartbeat.

Moulson is a great player, but I didn't like it when he scored a hat-trick against the Stars. :x
