Mason bro are you kidding me. Your conference is weak besides VCU you have no competition. Don't get me wrong i was rooting for you in the previous tourneys. Purdue has a much better shot than Mason. Duke and Kansas will be tough to beat. It is obvious that both of us hardcore stubborn fans.

True True but the CIT winners of 2009 is ODU so the CAA is a tough mid-major conference. Purdue has to deal with Michigan State and the rest of the Big Ten. Mason has less to worry about within the CAA but we have challenges as well. VCU is no longer in it prime since Grant and Maynor left. Plus Gwynn transferred out VCU because Grant leaving. Plus remember anything is possible in March.

BAMA fan here. We sucked last year and pretty much the last few years I think mostly due to coaching and player difficulties. There is a lot of buzz around Grant down here. I'm looking forward to this 2009-2010 season. We might even play a little defense this year.

I absolutely love college basketball and the 65 team tournament system while at the same time I am not a big fan of the NBA. Heck expand the field to get more mid-majors in. How 'bout the Sweet 18 instead of Sweet 16.

Is it time for midnight madness, I'm jonesin'.

It is funny that Grant was in Florida and SEC in 2006 and now in Alabama and SEC once more in 2009.

Larranaga was ranked 3rd among the top 5 mid majors basketball coach sometime this summer with rising programs.

Villanova v.s. Mason in opening round of the Puerto Rico Tip Off Tournament is official. It is going to be an epic showdown of the ages to watch!

Doesn't Mason have a football team? It's awfully early to be talking about basketball so much

We have a club football team and that is it. A decision to make the club team into NCAA D-1 team is not easy to undertake. So basketball is the premiere sport at Mason.

Mason will look into American Football as D-1 sport in 2013. Basketball is the Mason community's pride and joy. Also Mason Basketball along with VCU, JMU, ODU and W&M make a statement to UVA and other big major schools within the state. Never underestimate Jim Larranaga and Mason!

College Basketball is much easier to understand than the BCS system for College Football after all.

Even though they completely destroyed my bracket in 2006 (I think I actually had Michigan State making some noise as an elite 8 team as a 6 seed  ) that truly was the story of the year when George Mason made the final four. I can remember going on espn when the final four was set, I think it was Mason, Florida, UCLA and can't remember the 4th. But they had a poll on which team out of the 4 you felt would win it all, and I think George Mason was tops in votes! I mean at that point, everyone was behind them. That UConn game in the elite 8 was insane, I think it was Rudy Gay who forced an overtime and I thought after that UConn would regroup and prevail.

As for Eric Maynor, I think he can really help Utah out a lot this year. If Deron Williams misses any time I'm sure Sloan will turn him loose.

But as for 2009-10, last year I was "In Billy Clyde We Trust" mode, but now that he's gone and we've got Calipari, my Cats are looking awful fierce. Lookout America, we'll be hoisting championship banner Number 8 come next spring :D

LSU was the fourth team in 2006. I have a set level for Mason this year with 7 freshman players (Kevin Foster was red shirted last season so he is a rising freshman). Johnny Williams is one among the top ten Freshman players to watch because of his ability to disrupt players in the paint. Plus he also good on offensive as well.

Purdue is a major conference team of the Big Ten. However do you have a freshman player that Scouts, Inc. mentions to watch, nope. Mason on the other hand does

Quote:
Johnnie Williams, PF, George Mason: He is a big body with excellent skill for his size. Williams has comfortable range from 15 to 17 feet and in, but can knock down an open 3 with time and space. However, he is best known for his ability to punish defenders in the lane, where he has good hands and touch around the basket. The versatile forward should produce points, rebounds and matchup problems right away for coach Jim Larranaga.
