Our water here in Wichita is excellent. I can tell the difference out of an old water fountain vs. a new sink because it's that good to me. I can taste a small difference between RO water and tap here, but it's so minor that I don't mind. Back in my hometown, the water was half RO and tasted way worse. We had to get a filter for the sink.

Whether the water come from any sources. You can't say directly whether it's pure or nor pure. You need the filtration setup to stay safe from numero diseases.

I only ingest as much tap water as necessary for me to brush my teeth, so long as I can afford to do so. Where I live, drinking from the faucet is not only a nauseating affair, it could make you very sick over time. We are talking creosote contamination, and kidney stones... Considering my options, I choose the lesser of two evils and drink bottled filtered water for nourishment. (Distilled is the way to go, but I can never find any jugs that haven't leeched horribly, and I cannot afford to invest in a distiller myself.) It is very inexpensive by the gallon -- in my location, the price of a single yellow onion. And as I exercise moderation, I tend to make those gallons last.

I'm fortunate enough to live in a country with clean tapwater and even some lakes with natural drinkable water. I have a lifestraw when going out into the nature, but if i wanted to, i could skip it.

But i only drink tapwater if i'm out of cola...

I always wonder why bathroom water tastes sickly compared to Kitchen Tap Water.

As someone else said, in the UK bathroom water comes from your water tank and is not meant to be drunk, kitchen water is not and is fresher hence it tastes different. I drink both though.
