Stereotypes of "health-conscious" women.

I like doing this in the gym. Much much less weight than that dude, though. My favorite barbell exercise, though. I got to 100lbs on the hang snatch today, though, so so happy. My best from the floor used to be 105, but now I'm doing 100 without much of a hitch from the hang, so I definitely think it's better to train from the hang first. I had to be content with lifting less weight from the hang, though.
Wiggin, I did give a defense of women, though, as it is factual USA has more medals for Olympic lifting in the past years from women, so there a lot of actual female athletes. One coach I know somewhat, he's an Olympic lifting coach, his opinion is that women are actually easier to train, as they'll just do the programs, whereas guys will question the hell out of the programs and try to reinvent the wheel. But the problem in this is, women tend not to be innovators. Whether or not it's biology or chauvinism or whatever, I'm not trying to argue, but it's something different about women. If it's harnessed well, and the woman gets a good coach, then a woman can succeed. On the same point, men will literally kill themselves just to see if their s**t works, and we see this not just in exercise, but inventions and stuff as well. Of course there's exceptions to the rule, but generalities, yeah.
And as far as practical things, I know very few women who will, say, work on their cars, compared to men. and I think it's for that reason, they're afraid to try things and see if they'll work. It's just a different thought process. In some ways it's better, as women will generally...not die early deaths, but they also will not reap the rewards of scientific progress (well for men it's often broscience, but yes.)
I did mean that comment somewhat in jest, but yeah.
One thing I will say, regarding the people walking around strutting their stuff in the gym. Maybe. But you don't really know what exactly is going on in their mind, so it's best not to really judge unless they're being talking crap to others. Why do I say this? Well, many of us in school, at least for me, people got mad at me for appearing smarter. I wasn't intentionally trying to appear super smart or anything much of the time, it was just me, and people would hate me for it. So you know, just because someone is muscly or fit or whatever and seem to be walking around pridefully, that doesn't necessarily mean they're as*holes anymore than you'd be a snooty pretentious intellectual wannabe. It's just who people are or choose to be. If they're like, directly disturbing you or others, then there's a problem, but if not, ignore them.
I completely disagree with that, I'm sorry. Why do you say this? Many women have in fact made contributions to science, or had new ideas in specific fields. But how do you know that the relatively high recognition of men's ideas in innovation, if that's what you are basing this opinion on, is not just due to the difficulty women have competing with men in a male-dominated world, and the chauvinistic attitudes that still exist in those fields?
I just have to hear what you are basing these ideas on. I don't think that's a fair statement to make without backing it up.

The US is a nation that's dominated by white people, regardless of gender. Yet, many of your most important inventors were black (particularly in computer science).
To VW: I grew up with a grandmother that was full blown anorexic until the day she died. I got put on a medication in my early teens and went from mimicking her eating patterns to eating nothing but sweets and being a total zombie.
I gained literally over 100lbs in my teens and when I went off the medication I was out of the fog and ever since I can't take a bite of sweets without NEEDING more. It's not a "love affair" it's more like an addiction. It's worse than heroin. It's much, much worse than heroin.
People will say what they will say but that doesn't change the reality I live in. The weightloss is why I still do weight training. I had to get really toned for my body not to get all flabby. Maybe it was easier because I was in my teens.
It's such a misunderstood thing. Much like eating disorders, it's not well understood, despite the loads of people who say they understand it and try to explain it when they've never been through it.
I can't keep junk food in my house at all. It's too much of a risk.
lovely. a whole thread devoted to putting down women who work out. knock it off.
