cool as. how long does it take you to drive over to the east side? nince warm weather... i'm so sick of winter... although it's meant to hit 27C later in the week... and then Spring is just around the corner!

man, i'm a bit rusty hey. feel like such a kook these days. used to surf much better when i was living on the coast... but then i went and got a better job in the city...

yeh, i reckon hawaii would be sweet. there's a low cost airline that flies there from here. meant to be pretty consistent through the northern hemisphere winter, isn't it? December/January would work for me too.

might have to get a semi gun to be able to pull into the heaving reef breaks 8O

u know of any other aspie surfers out there who would be keen?

Its about a 4 hour drive to my spot. Even though it is only 220 miles away most of the roads are one way. It looks like i may cut my driving time in half a tropical wave is producing a swell in Miami 5 to 6 footers. That is only a 2 hour drive for me. Im rusty too bro I went to school in the midwest so its been 4 years since ive done it often. This is the first decent swell ive seen all summer too. If i lived closer id go every day. Next weekend is going to be bomb. Double overhead stuff coming from a big cane. So next week im going to work 4 10 hr days so i can skip and surf friday. Then im going to puerto on saturday. HAHA im livin the life.

Ya dude December and January are there most consistent months. Ive never surfed a reef break. I bet its pretty intense.

nah man I dont know of any aspies that surf, i dont really even know any NTs that i surf. Ive been trying to convince this girl i know to try it. Next weekend ill tell her to come in the double overhead stuff haha 8) .

I just got contacts before i had glasses and didnt surf with them on. Do you or do you know anyone who wears contacts surfing? They are disposable so i dont care if i loose them.

nah man. don't know much about contacts. lucky enough to have good eyesight.

never surfed a reef break? when i was living on the coast my local was a reef set up, although it was a fairly forgiving break. have surfed some gnarlier reefs though and punchy beach breaks on the sunshine coast and the margaret river region in western australia. pretty mental over there. big groundswell comes over the horizon like corduroy, out of the southern ocean....

... sounds like what's headed your way in a bit. enjoy! have fun in puerto rico too.

Hello!

I'm a wannabe-surfer from Sweden.
I've tried it a few times on my travels but have never had an oppurtunity to learn it properly (no surfing in Sweden).
I'm going to surfing school in Norway i a few weeks and will hopefully learn to surf soon!

I'm just slightly worried about the other students and that I will be an outsider at the school (but it might e worth it just for the chance to surf!).
- I would love to go to a asperger-surfing-school or something :P

Hi Linah,

You're going surfing in Norway? Yikes! That must be cold!

I read a story about surfing in Norway. There were some really good waves there... was so crazy seeing snow on the mountains at the same time people are surfing!

Anyway I would recommend that you give it a go. I'm not sure if we could organise a aspie learn to surf camp... having enough trouble getting a surf trip organised. Saying that, if you're ever in Queensland, Australia, let me know.

Ciao.

I bet that is some cold water!

Don't worry about what other people. As soon as you get out in the water all your worries will fade. Its just you and the energy from the wave.

Even if you dont surf often, you can still build up your surfing skills. Try yoga to help your balance and flexibility.

Ya Tonka and I are trying to organize an aspie surf trip in Decemeber or January. We were thinking about Hawaii but still open to suggestions. Your more than welcome to come. You'll be a pro by the time your done with surf school. 8)

Hey bdubs, Tonka, linah everyone. I have been surfing for about six weeks. Just starting to feel confident I can make most drops and catching a lot of waves now. So much fun now that I can focus on my turns, planing and speed. We have a storm coming this weeked too! Just wanted to share some with you guys. I am apprehensive sometimes too but I have learned how the rules of the lineup play out in reality so I don't feel like I will be in anyone's way. It's true what bdubs says because every time I get out I forget about all that stuff and just enjoy myself.

hey bdubs...

got some bad news mate... my contract looks like it won't be extended due to some rediculous HR technicalities... which means i'll be taking a pay cut of around $25k/yr... lose a job that i love and end up doing a job that i hate... pretty devastating.

what i'm trying to say is that hawaii is looking a whole lot less feasible now. sorry bro.

Caught some of my first head high and plus waves this weekend from the hurricane Bill swell. I understand the swell was not huge but considering it was flat last week it was a rush for a noob like me. I only have an 8' wood board that I made so that's what I surfed. Kind of stoked now.

Bro I feel ya next month i might take a 15k pay cut. Hopefully the global economy turns around. Next year though sometime we will take a trip. Puerto Rico was alot of fun! They had some decent waves. The rainforest was real chill.

Nice dude powerful stuff I bet this past weekend. I went on vacation to Puerto Rico so I missed the swell in FL.

An 8 foot wooden board that old skool son. I'm guessing its single fin. That's sick if you had the balls to ride that in that swell. Your prob going to want a better board eventually man. You can find good deals out there on fiberglass or epoxy construction. What kind of wood did you use?

PR sounds sweet. Yeh, next year sounds good man. Gives us a bit of time to organise stuff.
