crimebabe: regarding the 20 sets of leg presses with rather low weight - you might be interested in this article here: http://www.t-nation.com/readArticle.do?id=1305014
it delves into indications that males and females react the same way to the same kind of exercise, i.e.: what makes a guys muscle grow makes a girls muscles grow, as well as running a lengthy (and quite informative) critique of the classic "girls routine" in gyms.
just pretend the corny uh-im-so-manly-talk wasnt present in the article, as the rest is quite sound advice.

Running with my HFA son's best friend's Mum, if that makes any sense :)
She's doing a woman's triathlon, so she hops on her bike and picks me up - we run - and she hops back on her bike and off she goes!
All this is after the kids are asleep.. I must admit the dark is quite nice when you're just getting started - don't feel like such an idiot. And don't have time to feel like an idiot, cause we're chatting about the kids and stuff.
So I'm happily surprised that it's all working out - I've never been a great one for sports.

I want to say thank you again to everybody who has posted on this thread. I am almost completely sure that I wouldn't have managed even one walk without your support/participation. :)

I look forward to hearing more about how it's going , yoga, running, weights, treadmills, kettlebells, exercises etc! :D How is the pool, Hartzofspace?

Phew! Good :D Congratulations!

Thank you.

It was alright, though I am getting a bit worried about my knees on the steep up and down slopes; they're starting to ache/stiffen/pull a bit. ( have always had weak knees, which is why can't run). It's slowing me up a little too, which means less aerobic/cardio effect.

So I think will switch to the other "circuit" which although has the same up-slope at the start , doesn't, as far as I can remember, have such severe down gradients. Which will make a change too. :)

PS: Noticed cheekbones more visible again ... I'm not fat, but I was getting "pasty", and just the last 2 weeks exercise has already had an effect! :D

Good idea changing the route - both for knees and variaty.
Could you do some knee excercises or something to strenghten them? Or what about..... drum roll.... swimming 8O
And eat fish oil! It'd my answer to everything, but seriously it is supposed to be good for joints.
My running partner can't come tomorrow.... she's away but will run where she is. Here's for me having the backbone to do it alone!

Thank you, maybe I should eat more fish. I eat a bit of fatty fish ( sardine and tuna, or mackerel ) about once each week , but am not too hot on oil away from its natural container, the fish meat. Hmm.

Did the other walk; it is longer, 45 mins instead of 30, and also lots less tough on the knees, so think will probably be doing that one most days from now on.

Also the second half of the walk is nicer, still in full countryside with river/ravine and cliffy rocky overhangs and old stone walls etc rather than a main road and the high street to finish off.

So that is good. :D How is everyone else doing? It was a close thing today. I almost bottled out, almost excused myself on the grounds of my knees needing a break, and then my son wasn't keen today. But we discussed the possible "enemy encampments/bases" we might find in this till now unexplored area and managed to get out on a wave of exploratory fervour. :)
