Well Michigan is not fairing well in the Big Ten Conference. 6-7 in Conference Play with 16-10 overall.

Michigan is still a bubble team though. Despite their poor conference record their RPI is still 53. Their strength of schedule is very high and they have signature wins over UCLA, Duke, Illinois. They need to finish strong with at least 3 more regular season wins and a win or two in the Big-10 tournament to get into the NCAA though.

Illinois is a Big-Ten school as well and Illinois returned the favor. Also RPI is more heavily dependent on away wins and Michigan took a good amount of hits when they lose at Maryland and UCONN. In conference those hits are hard with losing at Ill, OSTU, Purdue and Penn State. Yes they did beat Duke but Duke beat them at a neutral site. Home games have a little effect on you when you win in RPI. Its the road games that matter more with RPI.

They're 17-10 and still have 3 road games to go plus a tough home game vs. Purdue. Any wins there will help their RPI even their home win because opponent wins is half the RPI and Purdue has high RPI

If they can knock down 4 more wins (reg. season and tournament) they're in good shape because at least 3 of those would be quality road/neutral wins and a possibility to end 5th in their conference. It's probably 50-50 shot for a 5th place team from a major conference, with >21 wins, and reasonable showing in their tournament.

Its possible but remember Michigan State is in the same conference. Even if you beat them in the championships, the selection committee has other ways to put you into the NIT. It happen with Hofstra and ODU in 2006 (Hofstra beat Mason twice that season and yet was a NIT bid). Mason's Bracketbuster, Wichita State which they won by a Tony Skinn's three pointer got them at a large bid that year along with a rematch with Shockers in the Sweet Sixteen round.

Then again the Big Ten is a major conference, so a few at large bids will be given (Michigan was in based on Bracketology on ESPN.com)

George Mason U. elects man as homecoming queen

Feb 20, 1:20 PM (ET)

FAIRFAX, Va. (AP) - George Mason University students have elected a drag queen as homecoming queen.
Student Ryan Allen beat out two women for the title at the small school in suburban Washington, D.C., famous for its run to the Final Four a few years back.
Allen competed under his drag queen persona of Reann Ballslee.
Allen, who is gay and performs in drag at nightclubs, said he entered as a joke. But he considers the victory one of his happiest moments and proof the school celebrates its diverse student body.
The senior from Virginia's Goochland County won the pageant about a week ago at a sold-out homecoming basketball game against Northeastern. George Mason's basketball team pulled off a string of upsets to advance to the Final Four in 2006.

Portland State will get into the Big Dance. Oregon and Oregon State will not due to they have beaten twice by Washington (Current Pac-10 Leader) along with other games they were beaten by. I'm for Washington to win the Pac-10 since UCLA seem to lost their touch a bit in the conference.

Portland state needs to win their conference tournament to have a shot. Their strength of schedule and RPI are too low.

Neither Oregon or Oregon state will be in the NCAA, they do not have a winning record, you have zero chance if you are not .500. If either showed momentum you could argue they stand a shot through their conference tournament, but neither has momentum.

Oregon ST coach (obama's brother-in-law) ought to win pac-10 coach of the year. He rebuilt a team that won ZERO conference games last year (admittedly, in a VERY strong pac-10) but it is amazing that they did much better this year.

Oregon finally won a conference game so they will not go winless. Even though the pac-10 is weak this year they still faced a grueling schedule. No other team played as many RPI top 50 teams, I think over half of their schedule is RPI < 50.

I think you could find a lot of people who would agree Oregon played the most difficult schedule in the country.

The Pac-10 in the last three years belong to UCLA and their luck ran out this year basically since Washington is come on strong with their last four games in regular are home. My sister went to UW and I have respect for them since them made it to Sweet Sixteen in 2006 (Battle of Huskies [UCONN]) and Mason avenged them in Elite Eight.

I see someone like Louiville or Wake Forest coming out of nowhere and winning this thing! 8O

As much as I wold love to see Pitt win it all, I feel as if they are overrated....but a good bet to make the Final 4
UNC will fall in the sweet 16, and I expect Duke to fall in the SECOND ROUND!! !!

UCLA will go to the Elite 8

My cinderella team (s) will be Portland State or Utah State....Maybe also add in Vermont into the mix

and the biggest team left OUT of the dance will be the Tennesnee Vols :)

UCLA suffer this year because most of their good players left. They might be sweet 16 material, don't see them going more than that. I predict Washington or Arizona State wins the pac-10.

L'ville or Wake Forest stand a great shot at the final 4. The state of North Carolina is coming on strong this year, North Carolina, Duke, Wake Forest all have strong teams.

Wake Forest might just be the dark horse behind the other two

Washington just beat Arizona State last night for a second time this season. Washington pretty much has the Pac-10 in their paws (Huskies joke). UNC, Duke and Wake Forest are dangerous since they are in the same conference so beating each other is a must there.

Still I believe that the Cinderella could be Mason or the team from the MVC since Mid-Majors came of age in 2006 due to Mason's Magic Run to the Final Four. Thus the term True Mid Major is reborn once again.

Its hard to say who going to win the whole at this time because you can been beaten randomly in the first round without notice.
