I want to know if I am being paranoid.

I have always wanted to get a massage but never have because I do not want to subject a massage therapist to my the hair on my shoulders (I know. Gross. No hair on my back though.) and a really big gruesome scar on my back from a surgery I had a while ago.

Do you think a massage therapist would be grossed out by this?

I would definitely give a good tip.

You shouldn't worry about it. :) I have a couple of friends who are trained masseuses and they are very aware that men tend to be a bit hairy, or very hairy! They just use more oil and are careful not to snag hairs with their nails so it's not painful for the client.

If you'd like a massage, then go for it! :D

I would guess, if they are properly trained and experienced, they have seen far worse!

Presumably they would have realized that some of their clients will have hair and scars etc. when they chose their profession, If they couldn't take it they wouldn't be masseurs.

I highly suggest getting a massage, I use to go once a month... god I miss those days.

You're paying them so body hair or scars really shouldn't be an issue, at most they may ask if there's increased sensativity at or around that area just for the sake of your comfort.

Other than that my only other imput is make sure you go someplace reputable. My only hang up about getting a massage before I had my first one was that I wanted to get the knots and tension out of my shoulder, I was not interested in getting some shady "happy endings" massage.
