Recently, my eyes have been hurting. It's either that, or it's an ache close to my eyes. It seems to be linked to whenever I look at something bright, like my computer screen. I haven't been getting the same amount of sleep (about 10 hours) that I used to. Instead, I'm now getting about 6 hours of sleep. Could I be coming down with something?

If you are autistic, you could be over sensitive to light, a condition called photophobia. I have photophobia, but remedied the iritation using Transition lenses instead of normal prescription ones. I also have hyper-acuitism, so I hear things most people don't notice, and high-pitched/loud noises are more painful than for the average person. If you have a neurologist, pyschologist, etc., you should bring those possibilities up with them. And again, if you're autistic, you may be having trouble sleeping due to anxiety. I sometimes can't sleep because I feel that it's just "un-productive."

Hi Mutanatia,

A number of years ago I was having eye pain and extreme sensitivity to light. The health clinic at school referred me to an ophthalmologist who diagnosed me with iritis. It is actually a form of arthritis that affects the eyes, and yes that is its real name even though it sounds kind of silly (it's pronounced eye-ritis).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iritis

It didn't have anything to do with sleep. For treatment they gave me some drops, and it went away pretty quick. It has never come back, although I've had other types of arthritis, so it's all related somehow.

So definitely get it checked out if it continues. Hope you feel better.

were you always over sensitive to light ?
I have always been over sensitive to sound. But i only started being over sensitive to light a few months ago. ( my eyes hurt easier in the sun or even sometimes in stores with too much light like best buy)
