there's a face common to some women. I really don't know if it's a condition that they're suffering from like diabetes or whether the one woman I encountered with these facial features was an alcoholic or what but I'm very interested in knowing what causes this condition.

I guess I'd describe it as sunken eyes, pointy chin, thin lips - almost looks as if they're sucking in their lips, appears older than what they really are, high cheek bones, recessed or sunken cheeks...

oh, and before someone goes off on me about being a sexist, I've only ever seen this in women suggesting there's a disparity in women and men with this thing - whatever it is.

kinda like faces of meth thing?

I know a few local bums who are obviously alcoholic, some of them male, some female but it's really hard to tell. same with their age, they tend to look ageless but not in a good way. they all have bulbous noses, purple-reddish faces and tiny red eyes.

digger1, I'm intrigued but I'm not sure exactly what you mean...could you find an example? Or is there anyone well-known with this kind of face that we can look up?

Just kind of looks like typical white trash. Frizzy bleach blonde hair with dark roots showing, bad make-up, skin of someone whose smoked a pack a day for 20 years.

If your sure its more than just emaciation (that you might expect with drug addicts) look up the facial characteristics of 'fetal alcohol syndrome', since that is your hunch. Someone born to an alcoholic mother is more at risk of developing the addiction themselves. Also, since your from a genetically diverse country could just be a racial thing - have a look at women from different countries in north & eastern europe & regions of russia?

I think I know what you mean. The red puffy face is from broken blood vessels, like when you see older drinkers with big red noses. The thing with the thin lips and the strange pattern of wrinkles around them is from constant smoking, looks a bit like a cats arse when she's sucking on a cig.
