Temporomandibular Joint Disorder
I have been reading some of the old posts here about Temporomandibular Joint Disorder, or TMJ/TMJD, and I was wondering if I have anything to worry about. Recently I've had a flair up, but I'm a hypochondriac so I keep having imaginary sensations of my teeth falling out, etc. I really can't do anything for it, but I have been told that a mouth guard wouldn't really help me, and I do not grind or clench my teeth at all. Do I have anything to worry about?
Thank you
It depends on what it's from. Mine's from crowding in my mouth (teeth) and past issues with my teeth.
If it's from day-to-day life, like doing certain things with your head (holding a phone between your jaw and shoulder) and other such things....Going by the best of my knowledge, no, but I also don't know a ton about it. Your teeth won't fall out though =P I would recommend a second opinion like a dentist/orthodontist though to be safe, 'cause when it gets out of hand, it's a huge pain. (Huge pain as in an inconvenience)
