Side effects of medication? {or am I just being crazy?}

Since I have began taking a new medication to go alongside my
current medication, I have had various problems associated with
this medication.

1. I have had trouble going pee.

2. I have had panic attacks {one even in church, lol}.

3. I have noticed that I have eating more than usual.


Any advice?

I was under the impression I was givin an anti-anxiety medication before, and had a really bad meltdown/ anxiety attack for two days, my parents hinted quite strongly at the idea.

I don't use it as a reference or consider my self one who has taken medication,

But I knew someone in university, he was bi-polar, and his medication gave him anxiety attacks and he said he has never been more depressed than when he took flouxitine**

What meds are you taking?

Years ago, I took 50mg/day of Nortriptyline to potentiate and smooth out the metabolization of Ritalin-SR (yeah, the nasty hardcore oldschool stuff we had to suffer with pre-Concerta). It was good for making Ritalin-SR less awful, but it had a nasty side-effect: while I was taking it, I more or less completely lost my ability to pee while standing. In fact, that was half the reason I eventually switched to Desipramine... I'd go out to bars, and spent the night in misery once the need to pee kicked in (sitting at a bar just isn't going to happen).

Nortriptyline also gave me carbohydrate cravings from hell. I was perpetually hungry, and would actually get nauseous and sick if I didn't give in and give my body the carbohydrates it was demanding. I also gained ~25 pounds before discovering that I could short-circuit the cravings with fewer calories by just eating Nerds (the pressed-sugar coated candy from Wonka) whenever a craving hit.

Mirtazapine (Remeron), most antipsychotics (including the atypical ones), and Tricyclic antidepressants that are related to (or metabolites of) Amitryptiline, are legendary for causing carbohydrate cravings. Desipramine is the only TCA I know of that doesn't really have either of those two side effects (it's possible that imipramine, protriptyline, and/or lofepramine might be OK, too).

You need to talk to your doctor about the problems you are having with the new medication. There are others available he/she can try you on, so do talk to the doctor.

I have to wait until the middle of March, because that is when I next see my doctor.

When I was on Zoloft I had trouble going pee. It was quite concerning and very uncomfortable.

Can you call your doctor's office and leave him/her a message? Don't feel bad about really making your needs clear - you shouldn't have to suffer with something like that.

The last time I saw my doctor was just a few days ago and I don't want to annoy my doctor by
showing up again almost a week after I last we last saw each other.

Might want to take some notes down on the possible side effects. If they continue and you can't live without the meds, I suggest you find another prescription.

It depends, I'm on a few different kinds of medication. What kind of medication are you on?

Side effects have been increasing and freaking me out!

Just yesterday, I had a panic attack on a bus {almost got kicked off} and the day before that, had a seizure in church.

The medication does have a list of all the possible side effects
and I will talk to my doctor about them when I see my doctor one week from tommorow.
