I have noticed that walking/running gait is mentioned a lot as a symptom of AS.
I found my elementry school fitness test results and what % I fit in and I was in the top 20% in pullups and situps, but in the bottom 10% in all the running related events, and that was 25-30 years ago.
I tried to get a job that required me to runn 300 meters in 52.4 seconds. I hired the best personal trainers and worked out and trained hard 6 days a week for about 3 years. I never could get that time below 57 seconds. I wasted all my shots on failures and didn't get the job.
One of the things my trainers had to work on a lot with me was the running posture/gait. I always walked with my shoulders slumped forward and my hips tilted back. It took a lot, I mean a lot, of practice to tilt my hips forward when walking and running. I never thought this was anything other then avoiding cardio based workouts for a few decades.
Now I keep seeing 'odd gait' listed as an AS symptom. Do any others have this issue?
BTW, I never had a desire to get into physical fitness till I had to go on blood pressure meds and from all the crap speed like drugs they fed me as a kid, I really don't like pills. Running makes it where I don't need to take any meds, so it is worth it for me to keep up with. Also, now that my peers have beer guts and are out of shape, and the running people I know don't care I am slower then they are, they are just happy to have me out there with them, it is nice. I never run with groups, but I typically run the other way on a trail and we meet back when everyone is done and go have lunch somewhere. This way I can do my intervert thing and recharge with the ipod and still be participating with the group. Oddly enough this has given me a fit body that I have gotten proud of since I have worked so hard for it. It gives me something to smile at when going to reunion events when I see all the football players from my childhood obese now and the dork is in good shape. ... I am rambling again
