I just started taking Lexapro. On day 3, I went out and got an iced coffee, and about an hour after drinking half of it I started feeling weird. I had an icy-hot feeling in my chest that eventually turned into a full-body rush of heat, making me feel disoriented, and at one point I felt like I could come out of my skin. I don't ever get panic attacks, but I can only assume that's what they feel like.

This went on for the rest of the evening. I went to sleep around 11pm, and woke up 4 hours later feeling a bit of malaise. So, my question is: does Lexapro severely increase your caffeine sensitivity? or was this experience unrelated to the caffeine? I'm a bit scared to continue taking it, cos I don't want to feel that way again.

You're supposed to give any antidepressant at least 2 - 4 weeks before the worst side effects are over and therapeutic efficacy becomes apparent (or not; in which case you would switch or discontinue).

I figured out what I was experiencing: hot flashes. It freaked me out. I've started back on the Lexapro, and had one little hot flash. Today is day 8. I gotta say, this stuff is working well for me, so far. They say it takes a few months for maximum benefits, but just within a week I've begun to feel better.
