hi folks. I have this problem that's kind of embarrassing.

My ears smell like some kind of strange cheese. I do shower regularly. Someone suggested it's sebum building up around the ears. Don't know what to do about it.

If it should be asked how I'm able to smell my ears, sometimes they itch and I'll scratch or rub. Only then will I smell something strange. I'll then smell my fingers.

all this time i thought i was the only one! i noticed it first when i was 13, behind my earlobes, the sweat/oil had a funk to it. i have a tiny "hole" or pocket on the side of my ear where the stuff builds up, once a day i can squeeze some oil out of it and it has this smell.

are your ears pierced? Mine are stretched and if I don't clean them regularly they smell like cheese.

It could be that your piercings need to be cleaned. Id use an earing cleaner or something like seabreeze on them and your earlobes and/or wash your ears in the shower + clean the insides of your ears out. I know doctors DO NOT recommend this, but I clean part of my inner ears out gently with q-tips to remove wavy build-up.

I have large ear piercings, and I have to take them out every day in the shower and use antibacterial soap. I'm a clean freak, so maybe it doesn't need to be every day, but definitely it needs to be done often! If not, there's an "infection" smell that comes.
