I used to do this quite a lot, as I am on medication which can make me quite drowsy/lack of energy, but I also found that after waking from this, I would feel really, really groggy and even a bit anxious.

I'm not sure what caused this exactly, but I now find that it's better to just sleep during the night and staying awake at daytime.

Maybe it had something to do with my sleep patterns, I'm not sure.

Anyone else take naps during the day? What's it like for you?

Except for when I am grieving, sleeping in the daytime works out badly. I need my sleep hygiene, which is sleeping regular hours.

A nap can sometimes sort me out or really mess me up. I don't know what conditions cause which state. I think sleeping during the 11-1 am period really does something good for me, but I'm rarely asleep then.

I've stopped sleeping during the day now, just due to how it made me feel, I feel better fighting though the tiredness and just staying awake than I do when I sleep.

is the medication important? I personally would not touch any sort of anti depressants or anti psychotics.

Not really. I could do without it, but I am pretty much forced to have it.

That happens to me too, the feeling sick and anxious after waking up, I used to sleep in the day a lot but I can't now because it makes me feel too ill.
Ultimately it's better for me though because I sleep better at night.

my sleep schedule is weird. go to bed at 3 or 4 am, and sleep till 2 or 3 in the afternoon.

not intending to brag or make anybody else feel badly, but i have long slept like a baby sleeps, only when i am good and sleepy. this means that i will literally zonk out with very little warning, at any time of day or night.

Naps are healthy! They take them in Spain, and the NYT recently quoted doctors saying it would be good for Americans to do it too to increase productivity. Any longer than 30 minutes makes you drowsy though.

many businesses are thus enlightened about this fact, including microsoft and google. both those firms allow employees to take power naps.

I take power naps, in the afternoon, before I have my tea.

I'm lousy with naps and it screws up my sleep schedule. I'd recommend trying to meditate instead and seeing how you feel after that a few times.

I typically work 3rd shift, so I am used to it - I've also noticed that what I eat makes a huge difference in how I feel...ice cream practically puts me in a coma. :(
