Unfortunately spasms/cramps in the feet unfortunately are a sign of getting older. But there are some things you can do about it; here's what helped me. First, dill pickle juice. I understand high school football players like to take a few swallows of it straight from the jar to help prevent spasms/cramps in their legs. I decided if it can help them it should help me. I don't take a hit from the jar but I do slice up a dill pickle spear on the salad I have most everyday for lunch so I pour a few teaspoons of the juice onto my salad. Of course I make sure I get all the juice when I eat the salad.
The other thing that helped me was getting as much white flour out of my diet as possible. If I get some white flour without knowing it, I will get woken up during the night with a cramp in my leg. Then if I think back, I can usually remember something I ate that was suspect. So that means whole wheat not only for bread but for pasta, breading on chicken or fish, tortillas, and anywhere else flour is used.
Hope these steps help.
