awesome :D

i have an arab mare, we show, do adult riding clubs stuff and trail ride mostly.

getting back into dressage, we're assessed pretty high but the horse isnt experienced enough, so we're not competing much (I like to get it RIGHT before i embarrass myself in public)

giving jumping a go too, never did much of it before

My wife has 2 horses, but I don't ride. I've been told, that horses have very similar characteristics to Aspie humans. They don't like to be touched, and are very easily freaked out by sudden noises or movements. Very direct and literal-minded, and take things exactly as they appear. So it would make sense if I were more connected with horses, but I somehow don't connect. I have ridden horses, but I don't feel in control, and that's not good/not safe.

TB-thoroughbred?

I did ride a horse but long time ago. But someone was holding the reins while I was riding which made me feel more comfortable. I don't like it when the horse goes fast though. I rode a mare and a gelding.

Horses, horseback riding and training horses are my obsessions in life. I started riding as a child but only casually until I met a Dressage rider who took me on as a working student. She was one of the few people who really understood me and I believe it is because of her that I can function so well in a NT world. As someone already said, horses are much like Aspies in a lot of ways, and she is a true master of the Equine mind. that is probably why she understood me so well. She always teased me for being so much like the hot blooded horses I loved so much.

I've ridden (western) on and off all my life. A year and a half ago, after my parents died, I felt so bad, I bought a horse (large pony, actually 14.1 hands). Its frightfully expensive, but owning a horse and having that responsibility has really helped me. I haven't been able to ride for three months. Up in Putnam Valley where he's boarded, there's been three feet of snow on the ground since December. We finally got rid of the snow and now we have three feet of mud. I'm hoping to start riding within a few days, however, Things are finally improving. Even when I cannot ride, I visit him and brush him and take him for a walk and it really makes me feel better. I've heard a lot about the special bond bvetween horses and autistic people. there is a whole branch of thearpy called "hippotherapy" where horsebackriding is used to help autistic children and other disabled children build muscle tone, self-confidence, etc.

Never ridden, but have hung around a stables, and know a bit about horses in the hand. been told they're completely different to same horse in the saddle. Also had compliments on my tail brushing technique, which is the same technique as for humans with tuggy hair. I guess you could go faster by the standard technique of ripping out the tugs, but not by much.

I use to practice equestrian. That is cross-country related disciplines, no dressage and such. Coincidentally, I have sought to take it up again and found my new teacher recently when she road her Appaloosian across the college campus where I work.
