The Australian national soccer side beat Uruguay in a qualifier to gain entry to the World Cup in Germany? next year. It's the first time in 32 years and only the 2nd time ever. Alot of people think that it because John Safran lifted a curse placed on the team by a Mozambique witchdoctor (who knows, it might be??). However, now I keep hearing how I have to follow the team. The same think happened during the Rugby Union world cup, how now to be truly Australian, I had to follow the wallabies. I've got no problem with those teams, congrats to the Socceroos, but I don't like soccer, can't seem to follow it, in fact I find it boring. I just am a bit tired of each time a major sporting event occurs, people start saying to others that they should get on the bandwagon. Yuk! I wish the Socceroos all the best next year, but to me, they still play the game of soccer that I don't like watching. I dunno, we have four football codes here in Australia: AFL, Rugby League, Rugby Union and Soccer. I love Rugby League, I just find it fast paced, but it's one of the few sports I find decent enough to watch.

That said, I watched a lawn bowls finals match on TV (the last 20 minutes) and I found it quite interesting and I could follow the rules. How can Lawn Bowls be interesting and Soccer be to me boring? I'd say it must be me. Soccer is massive in so many countries. Hmm, I dunno, I just don't get why some people like one sport and dislike another. It could be environment, but I kind of 'found' Rugby League by myself when I was 18, I had only really watched 1 or 2 matches before that, no one in my house really went out of the way to watch/enforce sports.

Hmm...

I'm not too keen on soccer either, though the only thing I do like watching normally is AFL. I don't really understand either forms of Rugby and soccer is, well, nothing great in my books. Although they're trying to get everyone to support them alot of people are saying they won't get far anyway, so at least they qualified.
