I would guess that this has been addressed at some time or another, but I'm interested in comments on foods that contain a lot of free glutamate. Anyone else have major problems with this? Examples are soy-sauce anything, cured ham, parmesan cheese, feta, beef - and of course, anything with MSG. To me, it's like eating poison. Any workarounds for this?

Why is it poison to you? Are you allergic to it?

Finn, after eating it, I have trouble sleeping. Then, I'll have very painful gastro effects the entire next day. A very bad reaction will cause a type of brain fog that feels like I'm trying to think and function through pea soup - the answers are there, but I have to work to get them. My neurons usually fire with good precision.

The closest I come is that I'm allergic to aspartame which has glutamate in it, then again I have bad reactions to Splenda and Ace-K, no bad reactions to MSG.

If you notice that you have clearly defined reactions to this stuff, my advice is to read up on what's related and avoid it. On the bright side, unless you really take it all the way to the gluten-free route, it just means you're eating better food rather than over processed stuff. Not too many big sacrifices.
